Level up a bit - I found him to be quite a jump from Margit, my damage output just wasn't scaling well enough without spending eight years on the idiot, so I just left and went to do sidequests and come back with better gear and higher levels.

If you had a pair of brain cells to rub together you would have walked away after 20-30 minutes and worked on leveling up and getting some better gear to take him on. Smashing your face against a wall is just plain stupid.

I kept hearing ppl say margit was hard and i got him pretty fast. was level 28. Now i am at Godrick and i've made it to his 2nd form and almost won. Best to save the summon for the 2nd part of the fight. I never use npc help because I want to beat him on my own. Gonna take a break and try again tomorrow. Think i'll def get him tomorrow

His attacks are telegraphed to hell and back, when he's doing a melee attack, dodge in sync with it while hugging his face, then between his wind ups, get one or two hits in then let your stamina recharge and back away, dodging as his attacks come out.

When he does the wind wall, dodge backwards until it finishes. When he jumps in to the air, dodge just as he hits the ground. When he thrashes around and does his best goron impression, back away and dodge when he attacks out of it.

In his second phase, the exact same thing applies, just back away with a shield up when he does his long reaching flame attack, or jump behind him when he does the close range one.

Let him get aggro on your NPC summon and get free hits in, taking care not to get hit on back swing.

It's a dance, learn his combo patterns and when to dodge in sync with them, the same goes for every boss.

If you're still struggling, just leave and level up a bit more. Get more scaling in to your main weapon, find an ash of war that adds damage based on your chosen scaling attribute, then go back in.

Tree Sentinel is harder.

Just be patient. Don't distance yourself too much because he'll start throwing those annoying tornados. Look out for his delayed attacks. It may not seem delayed, but I'm pretty sure he delays his attacks quite a bit, enough to throw someone's timing if impatient.

With these tips, you won't even need summons.
