Can you be more specific about the folder your cleared in appdata?
the appdata folder ish for clearing out your temp folder section
the game mode was on the Hardware Acceleration section
So until From fixed this I simply won't play it. I also left a negative review in the hopes people see it before deciding to buy the game. If I can get some people to hold of on buying because of it because this might happen to them as well, then I am happy.
Had the exact same problem until I disabled EAC now I've had no crashes for hours and way less stutters. Going to test all day.
As stated before, my computer's spec is not the issue, it is within the recommended requirements.
i5-8600k (okay it is BARELY weaker than the i7-8700k they list in the requirements, but it's like 1% weaker)
GTX 1080 ti
16 GB Ram
I'll try that, will to try anything.
I did as Sid here said, had the device manager open on my second screen while playing and it did indeed refresh every time I had a freeze.
So as he said I searched for "device manager keeps refreshing" and stumbled upon a thread where people said it may be caused by USB devices.
So I used a software to log USB device connecting and disconnecting, nothing came up. Further in that same thread someone said that the service called "SSDP Discovery" caused the issue and that by stopping it in the task manager, it stopped the refreshes in the device manager.
So I tried this, found the service and stopped it. The device manager did indeed stop refreshing and I played Elden Ring for 30 minutes without a single freeze.
This might be it!
So I repeat, if anyone is having this issue:
1. Open Task Manager
2. Go to the Services Tab
3. Find the name SSDPSRV (Description: SSDP Discovery)
4. Right-click it and click stop, the status should change from "Running" to "Stopped".
5. Enjoy Elden Ring hopefully without freezes!
(UPDATE)
A second program from NirSoft, DevManView was crucial for me to spot what was causing the refreshing. It logs each device and you can sort by "connect time" to see the most recent things that have connected. Mine was a hub plugged into a front USB port. It wasn't the hub itself disconnecting, so it didn't appear in LogView, but something faulty with the port it was plugged into.
