coop level restriction?

i'm currently lvl 153, and i cant find any summon sign near any boss or near the statues
(yes, im using the coop item, dont remember the name)
even if the map is showing the blue circle saying that there are player to coop, i just cant find any summon sign

I've noticed when I get summoned for considerably lower level bosses, I'm not doing OP damage and I think my health is cut, so I assume I'm being scaled down to match the summoner. Maybe it can't go both ways? (You can't be scaled up for fights, so you can't be summoned by people significantly higher level than you).

I'm 170+ and still getting summoned for the final boss or Malenia

Correct you can't be scaled up.

Although I don't believe that you can be summoned by people who are too low or high level compared to yours (unless you're using a password).

Ah okay, thanks for the clarification, perhaps my level gap isn't as big as I was assuming.

There should be a status effect under your stamina bar that tells you whenever your stats are diminished because you're playing with someone who's underleveled compared to you.

So it is something like...from the elden ring wiki

Lower-level Limit : Level - 10 - (Level * 0.1)
Upper-level Limit Equation: Level + 10 + (Level * 0.1)

So if you're 153 your lower limit is 128 and upper limit is 178 so should have a pretty reasonable area of summoning.

Also if you use passwords, passwords bypass the limits.

Since the most recent patch, a friend and I aren't able to co-op or be summoned at bosses by randoms.

These are summon ranges for Dark Souls 3, perhaps Elden Ring system is the same but I believe that we're still trying to figure it out.
