melee weapon for mage build?

what kind of weapon class would be good for a magic playtrhough? i was thinking either
straight swords or spears maybe even thrusting swords what do you guys think?

there are a few weapons that scale off int but be careful bc if they have arcana scaling then the weapon wont have any scaling bc of a bug

It may take you a while to get minimum requirements but it is really damn strong.

If you dip into dex as well, Moonveil from the mine in between Caelid and Limgrave is amazing.

Theres a few dedictated Magic weapons, one very easy and early to get would be moonveil which is a katana (Very similar to the dlc one from ds3), and stupidly overpowered, if you're not a fan of katanas or "boss" weapons i'd take a straightsword (that was my pick before i found the katana)
But you should give Carian slider a try, it staggers like its a greatsword, has the swing speed of a dagger, really good damage and you can get it within 20ish minutes of the game, costs only 4FP per cast too.
