or a giant ancestral archer if you yourself are a melee tank

Buying into the hype is a good way to get smashed when an enemy pulls an instant 180 like they have eyes on the back of their head mid attack chain against your pals.
See also: "Gosh, these pets are sooooo OP" *two out of three summon wolves die to a single normal wolf you could one-shot because your pets deal basically no damage out of the box*
Which just ramps up with how PvE enemies get more poise than you. Have fun expecting pets to "interrupt" enemies that can tank through a leaping greatsword swing.
This is another reason to keep a leash on your expectations.
You know what everyone who hypes up Oleg never warns you about, because it would detract from the "OP EZ mode" sales pitch?
Hey wiki, how much FP does it take to summon oleg... a flat one hundred FP? wow! that needs 20 mind just to have 100 FP in the first place. I'm sure your character started with that much Mind or could easily afford throwing it into your build if you were not a caster in the first place, right?
There is no greater joy than watching your mimic try to imitate you without any skill or urgency.
Great Shield Soldier ashes are pretty great for this. Kristoff too.
I watched a streamer use Oleg and he was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up a boss.
The game categorizes the spirits in your menu. The ones furthest down towards the bottom are usually the better ones.
Off the top of my head, Oleg, The Mimic, Bloodhound, and the headless knight are the best four out of them all.
