PS4 controller not working
I can't find many discussions about this on steam, but I can't be the only one having problems where it just will not pick up my ps4 controller. Anyone have any ideas?

My Xbox Elite Controller isn't working either.

I actually just made a similar thread. My DS4 doesn't work in this game either and I've tried everything it feels like.

Roommate tried damn near everything, even said he turned off every other way to control the game. Turned out his flight controls for Star Citizen were causing the issue. Anything remotely tied to controlling your PC, other than K&M, turn off and see if that helps you. Even third party controller mappers

Xbox controller not working, steam controller settings, Elden Ring property controller settings do nothing

I tried with only a controller plugged in (no KBM or other USB devices) it didn't detect anything. I tried with Steam override enabled, disabled or with custom binds from the community (labelled as fixes by binding KBM/controls) this worked for button input but not joysticks so you couldn't move or control the camera.

if you DO have anything else with a axis plugged in (like pedals/rudders or a joystick) it will detect that for some reason and spin uncontrollably though.

Refunding a second time until they fix it,

I tried with two different controllers as well : switch pro and Xbox 360 windows version.

enter big picture, turn on your controller. remove ALL usb devices (except for the controller or controller dongle). start game. get to the main menu and then you can plug all your devices back in (ONCE YOU ARE AT THE MAIN MENU! NOT BEFORE!) I think this is an issue from EAC. but i'm not sure. it's the only way I got my controller working.

i'm using ps4 controller with no such issues. Use a wired connection

Install DS4Windows > Hide Dual Shock Controller in options > make a profile that emulates xinput controller (xbox) > Set an autoprofile with elden ring executable and the profile you made > completely disable controller support on steam > run game > ??? > profit

Weirdly enough, the touch pad works as a D-PAD. You'll get a warning every time you run the game about using a 3rd party software for the gamepad. Just ignore the warning.

I've been playing like this for almost every game now. Have many custom profiles for different games that take advantage of all the DS4 functions. Steam emulation is decent, DS4Windows is almost perfect.

Make sure your global override for your controller input isn't set to the wrong controller. I had that issue with my controller, my global override for Steam was set to a Switch Pro Controller. I changed it to Xbox and ran Steam in Big Picture, game immediately picked up inputs from my Xbox Controller after that.
