if you DO have anything else with a axis plugged in (like pedals/rudders or a joystick) it will detect that for some reason and spin uncontrollably though.

Weirdly enough, the touch pad works as a D-PAD. You'll get a warning every time you run the game about using a 3rd party software for the gamepad. Just ignore the warning.
I've been playing like this for almost every game now. Have many custom profiles for different games that take advantage of all the DS4 functions. Steam emulation is decent, DS4Windows is almost perfect.
