Is HDR broken?
SDR looks normal but with HDR on the colors are completely flat and washed out. None of the brightness/saturation settings seem to make much of a difference. Anyone else getting this?

I have this problem too. And I had -- and still have -- the exact same problem with Sekiro.
Use SDR then?

if hdr looks washed out then you dont have hdr activated on windows side. im on windows 11 so its automatic; but windows 10 you have to turn it on manually. press Window+Alt+b at the same time see if it does anything for you

i had that problem happen a couple of times. it seems related to alt tabbing. try changing your res in-game then back to your normal res and see if that "resets" it and gets it looking normal again.

the hdr implementation isn't great but it does work and is definitely superior to the sdr experience.

if its alt tab then its a windows 10 issue you will have to reactivate hdr again via windows

HDR works fine for me. Make sure you have HDR enabled on your monitor/tv

In My Experience with HDR on a Computer?

I've tried many different Displays trying to get HDR to work...

In my case, just cause your capable of watching Movies in HDR,
does not mean your Computer will Support HDR the same way your able to watch Movies...

It is not the Computer's Fault on Windows 10...

It's the TV's Fault...

Instance:

V Series HDR Vizio TV won't Display HDR on a PC... Even though it Supports HDR...
M Series is a Next Level Up Vizio TV, Supports HDR, & Will Actually Support HDR on A PC...

What is different between the V & the M Series?

It has to do with the Nitts or whatever Color Brightness being higher on an M Series TV...

I guess that is why the M Series works, not the V Series...

-------------------------------------------------------------

Now, If you are getting washed out Colors from your HDR?
This has to have something to do with a Driver Update for the TV Causing this...

I think this could be Fixed from Settings, or from your GPU Software,
under Brightness, & Contrast, & Saturation Settings... I Forget Exactly how
it ends up getting Corrected...

Washed Out, or Faded, bad looking 4K or Even HDR in Games?
I have found that this is the Game's Fault... Most Likely A Bad Game Update...
Or i'm thinking it's just your Computer not capable of handling the task
needed to present the HDR in Game...

I've tried all of this.

Did you ever solve the issue?
hardtouching Mar 5, 2022 @ 7:12am
for me i have to set the HDMI RGB PC Range on my monitor to 16-235 instead of Autodetect and that looks pretty great. but i have to reset it every time because that range is really dark in regular windows experience. HDR on windows is still a crapshoot.

elden ring also sometimes doesn't disable HDR properly when quitting out and i have to turn it on and off again in Windows to fix the color crush.

I'm on DisplayPort, not HDMI. And my output dynamic range is always set to RGB/Full, which is the correct setting for HDR.
