Open world + teleporting ruins the whole open world
I beat a boss, first thing I do is teleport somewhere to use my runes then I must teleport back to the closest point, go to the boss area, and then continue from there.

Instead of set teleport points if you just had a scroll of town portal like in diablo it would be much better.

Anytime I notice I have enough runes for a level up I will teleport back ASAP instead of risk dying by fall damage or getting stuck in a cliff or something, then I have to repeat the same area to get back.

Also really sad they removed items that let you get out of boss fights with all your runes intact. Now if you die to a boss that is really overleveled compared to you, you are pretty much forced to give up on the runes.

If you see a large room and don't immediately think, "This is likely a boss room", then I don't feel bad for you when you lose all 5000 of your souls.

...then don't teleport and just traverse the map.

Its what I do in BotW, I rarely fast travel.

Same thing for ER.

I go through fog gates in random dungeons I find technically in higher level areas (the red area, I am at the lake part of the game) and try them out for fun and then realize I have to beat them underleveled to get my runes or just give up on them.

Terrible mechanic, why can't I buy some item for like 1000 runes or something that gets me back to last rested bonfire no worries be happy.

That’s not a flaw with the game, you just can’t help yourself

but the map is large and boring, the fun part of the open world is seeing a far away place and then going there. This is not an open world full of stuff to do, it's an adventure open world like that old ps2 game.

I honestly miss Homeward Bones too, but there's plenty of things you could be spending your runes on before you blindly pass through fog gates. That's easily a 'you' problem.

Though I will empathize on the two loading screens, there's not much better you can really do about that. Just comes with the game's design. Take it or leave it.

There are items like that, the branch of sacrifice or something, A single use item that breaks upon death but you don't lose any of your carried runes

It really is, when I am Incentivized to teleport back after every camp or field boss so I don't lose my progress.

Yes I beat the dungeon, got to the fog gate, now I should backtrack out, teleport somewhere, spend my runes, then go check out the boss. Lots of fun! Good gameplay design!

No, this is a choice you made. Incentives do not rule us.

You have no idea at the expanse this world truly is, you'll be appreciative of the teleport mechanic when you actually make some progress. Also private profile means you most likely haven't made any progression yet you are making this post. I don't think anyone would want to travel 45 minutes on horse back to turn in one part of a quest then go back to the exact spot they just traveled from to resume playing.

I’m incentivized to steal candy from children on Halloween because they’re there and it’s so easy, but I just… don’t

Back? To what? There are graces everywhere. They have gone full bonfire in this game. It's not even funny anymore how many they put in. And what progress? You shouldnt care about a couple k.

It's a choice I made after losing tons of runes to falling off cliffs and not wanting to backtrack through a boring open world to the same corner of the map I was fooling around at trying to find secrets.

It's bad gameplay design. We have teleport points everywhere, why not just get rid of them or like 90% and give us town portal scroll.
