Its what I do in BotW, I rarely fast travel.
Same thing for ER.
I go through fog gates in random dungeons I find technically in higher level areas (the red area, I am at the lake part of the game) and try them out for fun and then realize I have to beat them underleveled to get my runes or just give up on them.
Terrible mechanic, why can't I buy some item for like 1000 runes or something that gets me back to last rested bonfire no worries be happy.
but the map is large and boring, the fun part of the open world is seeing a far away place and then going there. This is not an open world full of stuff to do, it's an adventure open world like that old ps2 game.
Though I will empathize on the two loading screens, there's not much better you can really do about that. Just comes with the game's design. Take it or leave it.
It really is, when I am Incentivized to teleport back after every camp or field boss so I don't lose my progress.
Yes I beat the dungeon, got to the fog gate, now I should backtrack out, teleport somewhere, spend my runes, then go check out the boss. Lots of fun! Good gameplay design!
No, this is a choice you made. Incentives do not rule us.
It's a choice I made after losing tons of runes to falling off cliffs and not wanting to backtrack through a boring open world to the same corner of the map I was fooling around at trying to find secrets.
It's bad gameplay design. We have teleport points everywhere, why not just get rid of them or like 90% and give us town portal scroll.
