Why DO The Stat-Boosting Trinkets All Suck?
This games Ring of Favor & Protection:
The Erdtree's Favor trinket. Which raises my Health by 14 (garbage). My Stamina by 6 (trash) and my Equip Load by 2.8 (Ultra-garbage because 1.5 of that equip load is taken up by the trinket, meaning it's only a 1.3 gain.)
Yet it's hidden in one of the worst side-dungeons, and has 2 boss creatures ambush you on a narrow bridge over a pit. As if it's an amazing item everyone will want.

Then there's the 2 'Boosts your stats, but lowers your defense' trinkets.
They raise your stats by THREE. Each one does different stats, so both will raise ALL your stats by 3. Wow!
...But they reduce ALL your resistances (All physical/slash/pierce/magic/etc) by 20!
Meaning, to raise ALL your stats by a piddling 3; you are reducing EVERYTHING ELSE by 40.
Yes, that's the equivalent of 24 levels. Sounds amazing, but your damage resistances will be in the negatives to do it. Have fun being oneshot by a pig.

Every single useful stat-boosting equipment is so feeble as to be useless, even if they did not have massive penalties attached. Which they do.

I mean, Seal is 5 to all major attributes and negative to resistances, arsenal is a lot of equipment load, and the regen talisman is my goto. Those three right there make for a much more enjoyable melee experience, as my equipment load sits at damn near close to 100 atm at level 56.

I use arsenal, and the one that raises Holy since I do Incantations and a weapon that is 50% Holy.

I just noticed that the other trainkets, the ones that buff your flat stats, have MASSIVE drawbacks that make them useless.
I don't have the Seal. Just two other Trinkets that do 3 to all attributes; 4 attributes per trinket.

Just wait until you try that dungeon with the bonus runes from killing enemies talisman.

Why does this exist?

I've just been using the Chloranthy Talisman and the one that grants some HP back on visceral attacks for like the whole game. Sometimes I swap to the horse damage or aerial damage boost talisman depending on the situation, though. In the early game I used that Flynn's Ring talisman, but only very briefly. I did equip the Magic Defence boosting talisman when fighting that annoying teleporting mage in that tower though. The FP regeneration on visceral attacks would be useful but it's only like 15 FP lol so maybe not.

All of those sound much better than the FaP talisman lol. Although maybe I'll use it if / when you can unlock a 3rd slot at some point.

The drawbacks don't make them useless, they're just nerfs to defense. If you're fighting a monster that would oneshot you with a solid hit anyway, the "drawback" is nothing. If you're tanking most hits with a shield, the drawbacks still likely don't mean much.

It's a bonus to offense, especially equip requirements, equivalent to a large sum of runes. It's worth it even with the defense nerf, unless your build is relying on facetanking hits (high armor, high vigor/endurance, Determination, etc.)

Oh it's awful.
You can find a video but here are some spoilers:

It's not obvious and it isn't on the ground. You have to jump across some rocks to get to it. Once you get to it the thing is full of exploding scarlet rot puddles that do damage when they explode and also give you scarlet rot. You can't really jump and you'll always fat roll in the rot - but you don't want to roll, anyway. There are NPCs that try to poison you, too, so you can get two statuses at the same time that both suck. Once you get passed all of that nonsense you fight two knights in the same arena. One spams disc spells and the other has a spear - and the spear will inflict scarlet rot. So scarlet rot all around.
