rune farming makes NO SENSE, progression in this game is broken

I can go to the southern peninsula and kill EVERYTHING ON IT, on the entire half island, and not get as many runes as if I go for a 3 minute run of the north area (after being teleported to beastlord), where you can literally farm hundreds of thousands of runes in a half hour while being under no risk whatsoever, as it has "enemies" that are basically level 1 which give you 1000 XP each. Hell, I found a yellow eye one and had the golden claw active and got 7000 xp for killing one.

It's just retarded.

The game is set up so that either you CAN'T get enough runes to advance, or you HAVE to farm the most idiotic crap ever.
I'll literally have to farm the entire, entire southern peninsula just to get enough runes to level up from 29 to 30

I dont farm so i have no prob like this, i hate farming, i just dont ever farm in any game. I kill a few enemies nearby if i need just a little bit more runes.

I do sunbro sometimes for bosses bec i love sunbroing when bored with going solo

Convinced this is baiting. Either that or they're REALLY miffed about a completely optional farming method, which is insanely silly. They just posted a thread about this exact thing like half a day ago.

If you know a place doesn't give good runes per kill, then why are you farming there? Go to where you should be at that level and farm there if you need runes. Or simply go do something else for a while. There's A LOT of side content to find! Find and clear some caves or tombs. Look for field bosses to kill. Go dragon hunting. You should never "need" to farm for runs when there is so much stuff to do.

This is like trying to farm for souls in the asylum in DS1 when you are prepping for O&S.

Right now taking an L doesn't matter, and it feels like clearing entire areas is unrewarding in comparison to killing 3 docile mobs.
Literal bosses give less runes than one docile mob.

Just lol if you're farming in a souls game and mad that the farming isn't good enough. Just play the game you goofy ♥♥♥♥, you don't need to farm stats you need to get good.

farming was in the other souls games as well - and it was and still is optional...

It's more like the south area actually IS easier. But since it's a Dark Souls game, there are no effortless jokes of an enemy. Even the enemies you one shot are deadly and can kill you in numbers or if you're careless. So you don't feel the struggle is worth the runes you're getting. Whereas killing a harder, but only marginally so, enemy in a later zone will give you tons more souls instead.

I just pick literally every flower I run over (10 souls) and get all those blue skulls for 100 souls in each.

After you do that for hours, as you play normally, you just dump it all on a wandering trader and get thousands and thousands of souls.
