Weapon Skills and Dual Wielding
I have two different weapons equiped. Can i use both weapon skills? I seem to only be able to use the one in my main hand. Is there a way to execute the one in my other hand?

For clarity: shield and sword, shield has parry or shield bash, activating skill will prioritize shield, you must dual wield Right weapon to utilize its weapon art. Dual wield 2 swords, left has poison mist while right has lions claw, activating skill will always use lions claw unless you two hand Left weapon.

And then there is horse back which is very different. To use either weapon basic attacks you need to "two hand" to switch which weapon to use. This is very useful if you have seal or staff. Switch to seal or staff to cast the spell you want via two handing method. Do not remember if you can use weapon arts on horseback. Do not believe so. Try it and find out.

For those who intend to switch your shield and sword for sword L-hand and shield R-hand refer to information above and bless you for your awkwardness. This paragraph was just in case.

Dual wield it. Hold Y and press the right or left trigger (on the controller) to do so.

You need to weapons of the same type to correctly dual wield them.

You can, provided both weapons have a different art and you meet the requirements to use those arts.
I have absolutely know idea what decides which weapon art has priority, but I know sometimes it's the left hand, sometimes it's the right. But to access both arts you will have to briefly switch to holding a weapon in two hands to use both weapon arts.
Sure, but what i mean is that i have a Sword equiped in one hand and a Flail in the other. With the flail there is a "spinning" skill and the sword has a "swirl type strike" skill. It seems i can only use one of these skills while dual wielding them. Is this correct? If i want to use the flail skill i need to put it in the main hand and if i want to use the sword skill i need to put that into my main hand.

I dont want to use both hands on one weapon. I want to have both weapons equiped and use the skill i want.

nah, nah, you should be able to use both.
Determine which weapon art you use when holding the weapons how you like, then just switch to holding the other weapon with both hands, and you should be able to do the spin with that weapon.
without having to open your inventory and shuffle them around.
Im sorry, i might be dumb. But why are you talking about taking one of the weapons and use both hands when i want to dual wield :P

... Again, im probaby dumb right now.

So you cant use both weapon arts/skills if you dual wield two different weapons at the same time, only the art that is on the weapon in your main hand then. Right? That basically means that if you are dual wielding you only can use one skill.

I dont want to use both hands on one weapon. I want to have both weapons equiped and use the skill i want.

It, unfortunately, doesn't work like that. Since there's only one button for weapon skill, then it can only pull one of your weapon skills to be used. For me, I've always had it use the weapon skill of the weapon in my left hand. It makes it annoying because I'd love to 1h bloodhound blade and have the ability to both parry and use weapon skill, but sadly can't.

You explained my problem very well. How is it with shields then? If i have a shields skill and not my weapons?

How do you decide wich weapons skill is bound the to the skill key?

I mean, if you want to do the spin move with both weapons at the same time, or just press one button to do it with your left hand, one with your right hand, there's not actually a way to do that. To use both skills you're gonna have to 2hand one of your weapon for at least the duration of the spin move.

It's very easy and you can switch back to using a weapon in each hand about a second after the animation is over, but you can't do both weapon arts without 2handing for at least a couple seconds lol

With shields you can always take the option of no ability, so then it will use the skill of your right hand weapon, but then you won't have a parry.

I think I phrased my last post a little wrong. I believe that the game always uses the skill of the weapon/shield in your left hand unless that shield/weapon has no skill for it to use.
Thanks guys. I think its clearer for me now. Have a nice one!
