The Uchi and other Katana's have always been great weapons throughout the franchise.

They scale well with Dex, have default bleed, similar moveset to your standard longsword being slash and thrusts which work well against many enemies. good range and fast attacks. Most vets will pick one up as it'll carry you through most of the game just fine due to how versatile they are. There aren't many good one handed swords in Elden Ring that I've seen so far, as most have int scaling. So if you plan on using a Dex build that doesn't rely on Int you're quite limited early on in choice.

It's the old faithful of the Souls series.

Katana have a slightly slower slower attack and lower reach in my PVP experience. Rapiers are quicker and extend faster and hit more hits. Katana haven't really been a problem. . . Rapiers and estocs surprise me though.

Still nowhere near as annoying as rapiers. Those have always been awful to play against, but at least the people that use them tend to be made out of glass.

Moonveil is completely overpowered and can stun bosses in 2-3 L2+R2 hits, that's probably why everyone is using it.

It just how it goes. Katanas are always good in souls games. The katanas in elden ring, especially the special ones are very good eye candy.

What's insanely strong is Bleed. I expect that Bleed will be nerfed in the future. It's the Carthus Curved Sword all over again.

Head down to the beach where the big medusa things are at the start, go north to the end and farm the guy sitting at the fire. He drops a big curved greatsword as well as his full set of armor and you can easily sneak attack him. Might go well with ur warrior. Otherwise those guys are on horses and foot just north east of the gate ruins.
