Dont know what weapon i should choose... >.< HELP
Hey guys,

20h in the game and still exploring Limgrave. I have found several Weapons but i dont really enjoy any of them that mutch that i want to spent all my smithingstones into them.

Right know i play with the claymore which i loved in DS3 and with the straight sword of the common soldiers.

Well.. the claymore dont feel that good as it does in DS3 - its more clunky and slow... also it seems that the weapon art does not fit in the new "heavy attacks stager better" mechanic because its a throust attack and not a swipe. Its way harder to hit a Giants leg for example. And the straigt sword doesnt to so much damage...

I plan to go for a quality build btw - want to test as much weapons as possible.

So now you guys are asked:

I liked heavy weapons with a !decent! attack rate in DS3! At ng+ i swaped my lothrics sword for a claymore and i loved it. It was perfectly balanced in speed and heavy hitting <3 .. but in elden ring i dont feel it anymore.

I dont like dualwield because im a shield fan. I dont like curved sword movesets very much because i prefer a longer reach of attacks - and i dont like the very HUGE weapons that need a year to land a hit. Also i dont like daggers and the tiny little weapons.. The dual-blade looks interesting to be honest but the 1h style sucks... only the 2h is enjoyable. I dont even start with wipes...

Im thinking of playing with an axe.. but did not found a decent one so far. Dont know...

Do you have any tipps what weapon could fit for my desire?! If it comes a bit later in the game its OK - i just want to know its somewhere out there...

Btw you can spoiler as much as you like. Im reading through the wiki anyways :) .. but the wiki cant tell me if a weapon has a nice feeling or not.. therefore i need your experiences!

Help me out of my misery :,( !!!

I like how "non hate" threads are ignored :D ...

I personally love playing with my katana two handed. Flail is an okay weapon, but I've found the katana to be very balanced.... at least my starting one is.

I'm using the claymore now. The weapon art deals insane stagger damage and has amazing hyper armour. If you can get a big enough opening it can help stagger bosses with ease.

If you like the shield and want more each, the thrusting swords are decent. You can get the Great Epee extremely early and it has decent reach, speed, power, stagger and can be used from behind a shield. Less damage per swing than the claymore though. That's your trade off.

You can always change the weapon art if you don't like it.

I was a katana enjoyer until I picked up the Nightrider Flail off one of the Night's Cavalry bosses.

a) weapon arts don't matter much, unless it's one of the "unique" weapons, they can be (thankfully) interchanged
b) up to smithing stone (2) it's realy easy to farm (latern on requires a tad more progression)
so you can upgrade what you want
c) the list of possible weapons in Elden Ring is the largest in the vanilla series, so it's nigh impossible to list em.

d) read your text:

i don't like big weapons
i don't like small weapons
i don't like slow weapons
i don't like fast chip weapons

i mean what to tell ya?

if your question leads to axes..believe you me: there are a lot (and some realy great ones, beeing it boss-souls, lootable or rewards)

but since you are still around Limgrave: just pick a weapon upgrade it and try the moveset of every new weapon you find until you hit a winner (even higher level smithing stones are not that hard to come by later on), thanks to the expanded weapon-crafting you got a lot and i do mean a lot of options, beeing it actual weapon-skills (many are pretty f***ing great) or scaling, which is easier than ever to change.:er_wave:

I wonder if there is a big sword equivalent of DS2's smelter sword. Or atleast something similar in a diff style. Always enjoyed the big fire explosions it had on it's heavy R2's And powerstancing it with it's aged smelter brother was also super fun.

Haven't found anything similar enough for me to dump into just yet. but I have been havin fun with the basic longsword you get from mob drops and my brass shield. Since i dumped stones into my sword, i'm sorta stuck with it till I find an abundance of [3] and [4] stones to even consider swapping later on.

Have been enjoying faith stuff a little bit with lightning and buffing my blade with lightning aswell. makes me want to level even more then respec to a holy tank of some kind when I actually get enough levels.

*Hopefully runes get a little easier then they are right now. grinding the little midgets over by the beast cathedrial is gud and all, but when you start needing 35-45k+ per level, it starts to take a hot bit to grind out even 1 level.*

The claymore is one of the most beautiful weapons, because it has a very realistic look, but I would rather take Bloodhound's Fang, the bleeding effect is just too good not to take it.
