Hi Dragon,

If you could try replugging / reconnecting your controller to see if this still occurs. May have to close the game out first.

Are there any other controllers / race pads / VR headsets plugged in? If yes, could you unplug those?

And then if you could humor me and check your Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices, to see how many HID compliant game controllers you have. Do you have one or more than one there? (hypothesis is that the game seems to think a phantom controller is your primary controller instead of the one you actually want to use, but only basing this off an issue some other players encountered).

Here is a video of where this last step was headed:

Open Steam Big Picture Mode, you should be able to modify the controller config for Elden Ring. Try a slight increase on the analog dead zones.

I too have this issue and can confirm it has nothing to do with deadzones. it's just deciding to look up for half a second at random intervals, especially when my thumb isn't on the stick

I usually use a cottonstick (earpick) to clean dust around of my L stick. Whenever it does not work I just simply return to the Microsoft to fix it or buy a new one if the warranty is expired.
I have played Dark Souls series and Elden Ring quite long time and I don't even remember how many controllers I had to trash, because of either stick drifting or broken L1/R1, but it happens when you play this type of game that uses L3/R3 often and elden ring / Dark souls uses R3 to lock on target and every time you push the stick there's a chance that dust can stuck and constantly drifting.
Drifting L/R stick issue happens around of every 3~5 months but my real problem is a broken L1/R1, I can't even fix this.

That's just the classic xbox controller experience. If your controller doesn't have dead buttons or stick drift then it's not a real xbox controller.

finaly bring pad to service and they fixed it in 30 minutes
its stick problem 100% (so called stick drift) :steambored: and can be fixed only by replacing it :steambored:

Update after playing some more with it in my mind, it seems to tilt for a second while the stick is untouched and then immediately stop. unsure if it's actually stopping from me moving the stick to adjust it or not (as that's about how it's going), but it definitely isn't stick drift. I have experienced stick drift. Stick drift usually screws with you after letting go of looking in a direction. This just randomly jerks your camera when you're walking around without even touching the right analog stick. It might be some auto-adjust on the camera that comes on suddenly and without warning, enough that it just feels like a bug.

I was having this same problem and the I bought a new controller, specifically a wired controller and everything works fine. I heard from a friend it is a bug that has to do with bluetooth connection.
