Is the flail worth using?

Ive been waiting for this weapon for a long time. :)

10 str 18 dex

is this weapon niche or can i main this thing. it looks COOL.

I used it briefly. I didn't find it all that effective. It was also slower than the weapons I was using at the time too. I dunno, maybe others had better luck with it? There's no reason you can't try it. 18 dex isn't that much and there's little consequence to dying.

Damage is kind of low, when two handing poise damage is okay, stacks bleed which is good. There is another flail you can get later with double the dex requirement.

Been using the Night Cavalry flail for a while now. It does okay damage, bleed and good poise damage, with a decent swing speed. Kinda middle of the road between a sword and a hammer, but for dex build.

Overall it's pretty cool.

The Nightrider flail is amazing. It kicks more ass than it has a right to, and it can't be parried.

It's great for stacking bleeds, a MUST if you don't have spells to deal with slimes though.

better idea, dont, slimes are never worth fighting, just jump over them or run around them. They take forever to die and drop comedically small amounts of runes.

I've found it's a great PvE weapon as a dedicated bludgeoning weapon. Ash of war a kick onto it and use it to bully shield enemies. I'm sure it's not the best, but I enjoy it

I'm using the Nightrider flail and the chain spin destroys everything with bleed.

The single ball and chain, I just can't get used to the wind up. If you could just whip it like a club it would be better. But you have to nun-chuk it 2 or 3 times before you can smack something with it

I mean yeah you can, but you are missing out on one of the few enemies that can drop smithing stones.

One thing I don't see mentioned above is that is has an extra long, extra strong charged attack. You can do some real nonsense with backstab - charged - poisebreak -charged -poisebreak etc
I personally have the base one magic enchanted for slimes and the better one pure phys

I was using the regular flail for a while because it's the one weapon type I've always wanted in a Souls game, and when I found the Nightrider Flail (totally by accident, enjoyably), I fell in love and have been using it since. It's surprising how many bosses take bleed damage, too, and it works a treat against giants and other big enemies you can get lots of hits in on before having to dodge.
