RDR2 is just grand theft horse. If you enjoy those game immensely, then you will probably enjoy it more than Elden Ring. RDR2 just simply falls into too many pitfalls of the sandbox/open world games for me to say it's anything other than good. Same goes for Horizon Zero Dawn or whatever Ubisoft is puking out these days.

Elden Ring only negative right now is optimization.

Considering how Dark Souls is literally the best game ever made I would say YES Elden Ring is one of the best games ever made also. Red Dead Redemption 2 is kinda boring after a few hours.
Different sort of animals in many aspect. To cut it to the point: This Is is on Nioh, Dark souls, Bloodborne aspect of gameplay, but in my opinion is far better, maybe because I been a fan of all those games and see from some different angle, however its hard to say isn't a better game overall. My two cents anyway.

?? What pitfalls does RDR2 have that Elden Ring doesn't? Because they're pretty comparable open world wise.

why compare apples and oranges?

It's not apples and oranges - it's an action-adventure game set in an open world. Just because it is western doesn't change the fact they are within the same genre. Same as you can compare Elder Scrolls to Far Cry - they have very similar beats within them.
Not even the same genre...
Both are masterpiece, you can't compare them.

Yea we know all those games have pigs and dogs and wolves, so let's put all games into the arena?

Why compare apples and Turkish Delights? They're not comparable.
