okay now that you're here how do i get my controller to work its a switch controller i tried everything to get it to work such as unplugging all my keyboards and mice and inputs but the controller and tried big picture and tried controller configs and disabled the desktop controller config and i also disabled something else thanks it used to work any help is appreciate i will gift whoever fixes it a game of their choosing

Only works if its the Nintendo Switch PRO controller. The joy cons require a lot of custom brew and each joycon is considered an independent controller.

If it's a pro, seriously all you do is plug it in using the wire and Windows should pick it up as a "Pro Controller" (yes Windows will recognize it as a nintendo pro controller). If not, then you need to update windows.

I ended up using reWASD and set it as an Xbox One controller and it works good now, note i still have to unplug my keyboard though like everyone else seems to have to do

Not totally sure if it'll help due to not using it much, but try using big picture mode for steam, go thru the options to check out your connected controller then open elden ring thru big picture. May work out, might not, genuinely unsure

Something is up with your Windows.

I'm using Windows 11 Latest
Razer wired mouse+keyboard
official Xbox One Wired controller.

I can literally plug in the xbox controller while the game is running and just switch to the controller to play. I dont unplug anything. I don't use any homebrew/XIN input etc to modify.
I dont use Steam big picture.

Just literal plug and play
