How to get invaded?

I am about 20 hours in and still haven't been invaded. Do I need to invade myself to unlock it? Only met 1 npc invader and that's it. Do I need to activate the white ring to get invaded? I prefer not to have a allied summon joining me. Also is their a way to remove white signs? In certain spots it screws with weapon swapping.

Cross region play: perform matchmaking. Send summon sign: enabled. Launch setting: play online. So I assume I did everything right? I even accept hackers! Just want to play with the threat of invasion :(

You need to obtain the taunting tongue and activate it to open yourself up to invasions without friendly players in your group. If I remember right it's in the great hall, you have to leap over the balcony and kill the NPC invader in the walkway down there.

1 - open the map and travel to areas flagged with multiplayer activity
2 - use taunter tongue
3 - wait (as soon as an invader tries to connect you won't be able to use your horse so you can use this to know when an invader is arriving)

well...i think that the mod did not think the same way you do. but srsly, even if i like dark humor...the recent war that is happening, is too recent to be made fun of.

You don't need to do anything besides making sure the matchmaking is active and you're actually online. Uhm it might depend on where you're currently exploring at the time since an invader kinda sets up in certain areas. I've had a few attempts but most of the time they couldn't even find me so they gave up and left. The items can help get you invasions or allow you to invade but you still have to cross paths in the general area for it to happen. I know there was one player that set up camp outside a grace point at this smoldering church because they invaded me twice when I had to move through that area. Honestly I think its kinda silly how you can be traveling along and then the horse dismisses a few seconds before you get the invasion notice.
