The most empty open world i have ever seen.
When i first played Kingdoms of Amalur back in the day...you know, the MMO which was a project which even turned out to be scam to rip off even an entire state, and was being forced to become a regular open world RPG with nothing in it.......i thought, "maaaaan this is the most empty and boring world I have ever seen.

But now Elden Ring got that crown. There is nothing in this game. The whole world is empty.
This game was clearly sold with George R.R. Martin's name (for who knows which reasons, since i don't see any effort made by him in it)

I'm asking myself.....why did they even bother making an open world map? This is just Dark Souls with the walls placed further away.

Interesting.
I found the world big and kinda empty but it doesn't matter since u got a horse and can fast travel from the beginning on. U get maps and easily find the landmarks.
Just dont waste time checking every corner lol
But then you wouldn't find all the loot peppered around the map. Which I guess makes it not empty.

You have got to be kidding me, its one of the best game worlds ever. Much better than the generic ubisoft type crap we get most these days. There are useful stuff around every corner and there are not a million and 1 icons and markers on the screen. Explore better

What a hot take.
This is exactly what I expected a more open world souls game would be.
What the heck were you expecting??

I think there is plenty to find in just Limgrave alone, like someone else in this forum said (Don't remember who) there's just a much greater journey inbetween each thing.

I don't enjoy the open world aspect of the game. In my opinion it is the weakest part of it.

you also have to love the combat. if you don't, then i can see how the game feels empty.

The map and world is perfect imo.

Is always a good sign for me when i want to engage in combat, it feels meaty. Also the sense of progression is there can literally see your self growing stronger.

To be fair, I like the open world but I could take it or leave it, some parts of the game would certainly work a bit better if it was like older souls games that FS made

Its empty in a sense that you fight the same damn thing over and over..... and .... over again in different places, bosses included. They should stick to the usual semi open worlds cos this is pretty disappointing.
Same weapons, mostly.
same enemies different skin. We all know whats hiding under those imps, we were fighting them in the undead settlement

Sometimes I wonder if we're playing the same game. There's tons of encounters to find. Take the beach near the start of the game.

A giant guards the path down.
Past him is an invisible scarab to puzzle out.
Past that is a marauder camping.
Turn around and head the other way, passing some land octopus.
A group of demi humans guard the entrance to their cave, complete with a boss fight, an NPC quest, and a route to an island shrine.
Past them is a merchant.
Then finally a group of skeletons surround the jump pad back to the start.

What more could have been added to that beach to make the world less empty?

KoA was never supposed to be an MMO. It was supposed to be a single player game, then if it did well, they were supposed to make an MMO based on it. Basically, they were trying the same model that Dragon's Dogma took. Base game -> Base game with Expansion pass -> MMO. (Yes, Dragon's Dogma had an MMO, it just never released in the west sadly. Seriously, look it up on Youtube. It was amazing.)

KoA had a ton of lore and side quests to keep you busy constant. Plus you could build up player homes and the like. Had meaningful crafting. Randomize loot to hunt. Mix and match builds to play with. Its.

The world is full of stuff to find, people that complain in this way literally just want another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game full of map markers, generic green/blue/orange/purple loot and leveled enemies.

Pay attention to the environment, follow the clues (there are plenty) and you'll find stuff all over the place. Have you at least found any of the underground cities ruins (there are several, and they're gigantic) yet?
