The most empty open world i have ever seen.
When i first played Kingdoms of Amalur back in the day...you know, the MMO which was a project which even turned out to be scam to rip off even an entire state, and was being forced to become a regular open world RPG with nothing in it.......i thought, "maaaaan this is the most empty and boring world I have ever seen.

But now Elden Ring got that crown. There is nothing in this game. The whole world is empty.
This game was clearly sold with George R.R. Martin's name (for who knows which reasons, since i don't see any effort made by him in it)

I'm asking myself.....why did they even bother making an open world map? This is just Dark Souls with the walls placed further away.

It was never an mmo, they were going to make an mmo but that game was just an rpg. As for ED, yeah i agree it's not like DS or Bloodbourne when it comes to the world and NPCs, still an ok world but lacking imo.

It's not completely empty, there are things to do in the world.
The problem is that the things you can do are too far from each other, the world is too big, that's why they give you a horse and you find bonfires every 2 minute.
I'd prefered for the game to be delayed another year if it meant FS would populate the empty areas/reduce the map size to make things more condensed.

If it was a bustling, busy world it'd ruin the atmosphere. This isn't supposed to be Skyrim.

there is plenty of stuff imo

At least it has enemies to fight and items to find. Look at Death Stranding for a truly dead open world.

It's confusing seeing all these "This apocalyptic world tainted by some form of corruption that has left very little intelligent life left, is so empty"
Duh - if anything it feels odd that every wall practically has a cave/catacomb in it

I never expected it to have hundreds of civilians and NPCs riding around. There's a reason why it's empty lore wise but I don't find it empty at all, It feels rewarding to explore. The open world actually reminds me of Dragons Dogma.

I actually like it, that you don't get overwhelmed with tasks like other open world games. You have to go explore and you will find amazing things (my POV).

I like execution of the world design. Its big but not big enough to roll around. I still die a lot. 10/10 will buy again

The map and world is perfect imo.

It's not empty but does feel like that at the beginning.

you clearly havn't got through or explored the first open area much

If your idea of open world is a typical ubisoft map filled with bunch of pointless collectibles or crappy fetch quests then yeah, the world might seem to be a little bit empty... But hey, you can also find unique dungeons, enemies, npcs, weapons and other useful loot but that's probably not good enough for a modern open world game, I guess.
