HELP! Low system RAM usage causing low FPS!
I have tried pretty much all fixed avaible, still none to work. Recently I noticed elden ring uses only 4-5gb max RAM. I have 16gb ddr3 ram 1600mhz, 12 gb are free and game uses only 4gb, while 8gb are still completely free. Watching many benchmarks on youtube, systems having 16gb ram, game is using always at least 10-12 gb. I think this is the reason I have low fps, since my specs are not that bad. This causes 720p Lowest settings, getting 30 fps, 1440p (2k) Max settings also 30 fps, no change at all. The only change is gpu utilization going from 50% to 80-90%.

Intel i7-4770
16gb ddr3 ram 1600mhz (2x8gb)
Rtx 3050 8gb pc version
Game installed on Samsung SSD 500gb

HELP, any suggestions are appreciated. Really want to play the game but I refuse to play with 30 fps while not using the full potential of my system (drops to 20s fps sometimes, not talking about the known shuttering problem)

i dont know if that information helps but the game works almost 99% stutter/lag/whatever free for me. and i only use 2.8-3.5 gb of ram. watched it a few hours in the open world and in dungeons. so i doubt that it is the ram. i got 16 gb ddr4 3600mhz ram. and i play on the highest settings on 1080p.

I can run the game on one of my PC that only have 8GB RAM with a haswell era CPU(4670) and 1070TI at around 55fps@1440p....

Probably your PC is misconfigured or full of crap background apps.

Exactly the same thing with me. Also get 50-60 fps in dungeons. But uses less ram in my case. Cpu and gpu also at 50-60% usage with horrible fps.

I think I will buy a new CPU. Considering a Ryzen 5 5600X... I think the 4770k is just too old supporting current games :(
I have a Ryzen 7 5800x. Game is unplayable for me too.

My random 2 cents but make sure your monitors refresh rate is what you originally set it. Sometimes for no reason my refresh rate will go back to the default instead of what I put it.

Are you using 32 bit windows? You are going on a roll complaining now that your NINE YEAR OLD CPU is not cutting it in a brand new game.

Your CPU is NINE years old.
Wdym 9 year old cpu? 9 year old top model cpu back then, yeah. 9 year old i7 is still better than most new i3s. Pretty much same performance as 7th gen i5 and a little bit worse performance than 8th-9th gen i5's. Much worse performance than i5 10th gen+.

Intel i5 4670? And you get 55 fps in the first open world area?

Both CPU and RAM are kinda old. Since you are running DDR3 RAM i can assume you have an old MoBo as well. These 3 things are most definitely a contributing factor for your low performance. Obviously the game has some performance issues, but if they optimized for current gen consoles then the CPU and RAM are holding you back.

Get hardware from at most 2 generations ago. Dunno where you live, but getting 1-2 year old RAM, MoBo, and CPU shouldn't be too hard nor expensive. At most $300 in total.

Yup, it does dips for a few seconds at some open world areas. But generally steam fps shows 55fps for most of the game. Not at max settings though, custom, no vsync(forced on the driver level) as I have freesync.

The problem with OP is his Rtx 3050, being a budget graphic card... He probably needs to create a game profile with nvidia control panel and do some serious tweaking as well as ensure no other crap is running in the background like video streaming...

Best solution for him is to buy a much better graphic card for 1440p. I recommend 1070Ti, 1080, 2070, 3070.

I'd take that as a joke, right? Rtx 3050 being the problem ;d This card released less than a month ago, having way more advanced tech than the 1070 Ti, way more cuda cores etc. The card is being used at 80% Max settings 1440 p res... Most likely my Cpu is the bottleneck i7 4770 but still used at 50-60% due to bad game optimization I think. Not used to the fullest.

New budget (Sorry in this current market, budget is also cut throat) card doesn't mean it's a high end card, especially if you play at 1440p and above... The two links I posted showed performance difference between the 2 cards (Did you even bother to click and look at the results...). The card I used in my PC example(8GB RAM and slightly slower CPU of 4670k) and yours(16GB RAM, 4770).

There's a difference in factual information and "feel"... Even if you upgrade your CPU to the likes of AMD 3700x, you probably only see an uplift of only about 5~10 fps. Aside of disabling junk running in your PC (rogue anti-virus, bitcoin mining, etc), you need to manually edit settings on the driver level like max performance/vsync, etc and even set your actual windows desktop(not in-game setting) to 1080p.

Possibly in terms of raw FLOPS while simultaneously having 1/3 the memory bandwidth, lacking new instruction sets, lacking various technologies on motherboard which slow down everything from memory to disk access to PCI, having less cache, etc etc etc

being faster in terms of FLOPS is meaningless so no a nine year old i7 is not "good". There are a ton of dimensions to performance.

i play only with a ryzen 7 2700X and i get 55-60 fps no matter in with area on max settings. Only problem sometimes the stuttering but i hope FromSoftware fixes this
Guys, I found what the problem was and still is for sooo many people. I messed around with the Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) program files as my last desperate attempt since I tried every single fix possible, until I messed something up in it, so now it's not working and when I start the game, I can't log in online mode, it says (Inappropriate activity detected) Eac not working at all, and my god the fps skyyyrocketed. Now I easily get 60 fps stable anywhere in the game on MAX settings 1080p (still very rare small shutters), with this bull$hite program on I was getting 30-40 fps on lowest 720p settings and massive shutters. I am still shocked at the performance hit this thing causes. And it's not like it puts more load on the Cpu and Gpu, it's the exact opposite, seems like it bottlenecks or caps their potential. For example max settings 1080p with EAC on, was getting 20-30fps and Gpu utilization at 60-70 % maximum, now without EAC, same max settings stable 60 fps and 90%+ Gpu usage. So happy that the game is now playable, even though no online which is why I am such a fan of these games, it's the Pvp but I'd trade that any time of the day for 60 fps. Spread that to other people who are desperately trying to find a fix! Praise the sun! :praisesun:
