More Preferable - DEX or STR

Which do you prefer in Elden Ring, a DEX build or STR build?

I am going more STR than Dex because of my weapon choice. Could change later if I find something that makes me want to switch things up. Being able to use a cross bow has been a tremendous help. So I will keep some dex for sure.

I usually run a quality build for first playthroughs, leaning slightly on STR

Either or, strength might be easier because it makes you a bit tougher but strength weapons tend to attack slower. Dex weapons are faster and dex makes you cast spells faster so probably better for a hybrid build.

Bows are finally decent in a souls game so Dex is decent if someone wants to do a hybrid melee Archer build.

I expect I will end up "Too suboptimal to call quality or strength" 30ish strength and 20?ish dex up from my current 16/14 as usual.

dex because the uchigatana is amazing for me.

right now I kinda both as Im maining Dex but have enough Str to use different weapons depending on the enemy.

I've been a strength build fan since DS1. Just find the biggest stick you can.
Zweihander is a personal favorite.
Basically, "BIG THING HIT HARD".
