fellas, I wanted to chime in w/ my experience:

Win10/rtx3080/Ryzen5900/64gb Ram. Ran fine for the first 5-6 hours. Around the stormhill shack area, I started getting slight stutters and A LOT of connection errors (being summoned specifically). after beating Tails the Fell, everything went to ♥♥♥♥. MASSIVE fps drops and stutters to the point that the game and audio freezes for like half to a full second and everything catches up (by speeding up the game. Kinda like rubber-banding on online shooters). I started a new save just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles and am experiencing issues in the starting areas where I did not experience any problems during my first playthrough.. I think the issue is like Digital foundry describes and it's the coding involving DX12 giving devs control over GPU memory management.

My brother has the same specs as I do an has experienced the same worsening stutters phenomena.

The whole debacle is deplorable, FromSoftware releasing a game in this state, the zealots shilling and coping, the game journalists lettings this type of performance slide, the entire thing is broken.
I mean, should i be angry if the game works for me? Cause just because i'm not angry with the people with issues, i'm being called a shill.
Why should i be raising a storm if i don't have issues?

I think the points of many, is that they report issues, and yet people come with the extremely unhelpfull "works for me" "you are haters" and so forth- none of which makes any positive contribution to the discussion - yet always happens with every release.

Funnily you nearly never see that sort of content-empty feedback on professional software forums. "works for me" is the quickest way to get ignored or blocked when it comes to a professional software forum discussion. With good reason.

I refunded the game, I have a 3070, I7 and 32GB of ram and yet my game stutters and FPS drops, while my other friends do not have a single problem with worst specs. I don't know what to do, but I'm def not going to play a really good game and ruin my experience because of performance, will have to wait until this is fixed which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad.
I agree that gamers who simply say "it works for me" isn't in and of itself very helpful. However in most cases the gamers who say that also give their particular PC specs along with it to give at least an idea and example of a setup where it's working. It might give some insight or clue as where the problem is coming from.

For what it's worth, I've also noticed over the past several days a significant number of people reporting stuttering and other problems are running Nvidia 3000 series GPUs.

I'm wondering if ER's stuttering issue is associated with something going on with that particular series of cards.

Please understand, I'm not BLAMING people who have higher end cards. The game SHOULD work for them as well as everyone. I've just noticed that it seems that the 3000s are getting mentioned an awful lot. I've also noticed similar posts where people who are running 3000s have friends or know of people who have much less powerful GPUS who are having no problems with stuttering in ER.

To me, those could be some clues as to pinpointing what's going on.

...Also, I completely agree about the whole "pro" game or "anti" game thing. Bringing up legitimate performance issues doesn't mean you're hating on the game. Nobody should be blindly pro or anti-anything, be it a video game or politics or whatever. You don't blindly root for things just because you are a fan of it. You have to take each issue one at a time and try to solve it.

This is my first Souls-type game so I have no previous loyalty or brand attachment at this point. I'm just looking for a new good, open world adventure where I can enjoy exploring while getting better at the combat.

And I would never suggest or promote that just because the stuttering may not be happening with everyone's ER game, the problem should be ignored! Whatever percentage of players are experiencing stuttering, it has to be resolved whether it's coming from a hardware end, the game's end, or a combination of both.

The truth is that these two groups sniping at each other is counter - productive. My game runs great but for the invisible NPCs. I feel bad for those whose experience is worse than mine. Our energies should be focused on motivating FromSoft to fix the game for those that need it, and playing the game for those that don't.

The only thing I would add to this, is that this problem could very well be a combination of BOTH the game AND particular hardware.

seems this is happening top any major release nowadays sadly.
pc's are not very compatible anymore.
I have a 3080, a 5600x, 32gb of high end ram, and an m2. I should not be having the game essentially freezing/locking up every 20-30 minutes so it can load and reload something. I've tried all the fixes and it got better friday, but saturday and today it's been even worse. It hasn't gotten me killed yet somehow, but it happens during bosses quite a bit.

Gotta humbly come back and say that after the patch (and updating nvidia driver which shouldn't matter) I am getting lag/stuttering now when I didn't have any before.
