Win10/rtx3080/Ryzen5900/64gb Ram. Ran fine for the first 5-6 hours. Around the stormhill shack area, I started getting slight stutters and A LOT of connection errors (being summoned specifically). after beating Tails the Fell, everything went to ♥♥♥♥. MASSIVE fps drops and stutters to the point that the game and audio freezes for like half to a full second and everything catches up (by speeding up the game. Kinda like rubber-banding on online shooters). I started a new save just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles and am experiencing issues in the starting areas where I did not experience any problems during my first playthrough.. I think the issue is like Digital foundry describes and it's the coding involving DX12 giving devs control over GPU memory management.
My brother has the same specs as I do an has experienced the same worsening stutters phenomena.
I think the points of many, is that they report issues, and yet people come with the extremely unhelpfull "works for me" "you are haters" and so forth- none of which makes any positive contribution to the discussion - yet always happens with every release.
Funnily you nearly never see that sort of content-empty feedback on professional software forums. "works for me" is the quickest way to get ignored or blocked when it comes to a professional software forum discussion. With good reason.
For what it's worth, I've also noticed over the past several days a significant number of people reporting stuttering and other problems are running Nvidia 3000 series GPUs.
I'm wondering if ER's stuttering issue is associated with something going on with that particular series of cards.
Please understand, I'm not BLAMING people who have higher end cards. The game SHOULD work for them as well as everyone. I've just noticed that it seems that the 3000s are getting mentioned an awful lot. I've also noticed similar posts where people who are running 3000s have friends or know of people who have much less powerful GPUS who are having no problems with stuttering in ER.
To me, those could be some clues as to pinpointing what's going on.
This is my first Souls-type game so I have no previous loyalty or brand attachment at this point. I'm just looking for a new good, open world adventure where I can enjoy exploring while getting better at the combat.
And I would never suggest or promote that just because the stuttering may not be happening with everyone's ER game, the problem should be ignored! Whatever percentage of players are experiencing stuttering, it has to be resolved whether it's coming from a hardware end, the game's end, or a combination of both.
The only thing I would add to this, is that this problem could very well be a combination of BOTH the game AND particular hardware.
pc's are not very compatible anymore.
try rolling back to your previous driver while they fix the issue this may help temporarily
