How to beat Margit?
Im level 20, tried it for 16 times and still cant get below 50% health.

Before he gets his hammer its managable to reduce his health. But after he gets it, i have no idea in which direction i can dodge, his combos then changing between sword and staff are too long. It feels like he attacks 6 times in a row and i lose so much constitution while dodging.

Any help?

Are you summoning wolves or the jellyfish with the bell you get given? That'll make a big difference.

I actually only beat him by summoning the NPC as well as the wolves and by using Margit's Shackle

Since a huge part of the difficulty of this fight is his speed an relentlessness, bringing some more "victims" to focus on works great (even if it is a little cheesy).
The summons draw his attention away from me so I can get close and jump attack until he staggers, then get a backstab for extra damage. Usually takes about 2-3 jump attacks for me.

When you have to dodge his jump in the air to come crashing down on top of you remember to dodge towards him just before he lands again. You can usually get a hit in afterwards.

Use your summons at his hammer switch to distract him.

lvl 29 and I can't beat him with wolve summons and a bot player. Input lag so bad in this game.

1. Don't die
2. Hit him
3. Repeat 1 and 2

Search to the south foul tarnished. Despicable lot makes refuge down in the caves and it might sell you something of great import.

For one thing the game tricks you. The boss in the far south of the map is easier than him. So if you need levels it's easier to go south. If your already leveled, and have a +5 weapon then you probably just need to learn his moves. Like others say the summoned wolves or jellyfish kind of trivialize boss fights.

If you're really struggling, then Patches sells an item you can use to interrupt/stun Margit for 5,000 runes.

I actually thought he was easier with hammer in many ways. That high jump hammer slam is easy to iframe roll into and get some free damage. Don't gt greedy though as he'll almost always go into his sword combo after taking a few hits. Back away after getting a bit of damage and poke him with some sorta ranged attack(throwing knife or range L2 if you have one) if he isn't making a play to close the distant. You are trying to bait him into using the hammer jump as much as possible since its the easiest attack to iframe and punish. I play dual dagger and dont have a parry or shield so not sure how you play against him with those.

Summon an ally and wolves. Use the shackle in phase 1. Most importantly, use strong attacks and jumping attacks where you can. This will break his super armor after a bit and stagger him, setting up an easy riposte. I got 5 ripostes off in the fight that I killed him. Makes a big difference.

Still, the first truly difficult fight in the game. It's a real skill check for sure.

just get better
idk his kit is really easy to understand and react to, but that health bar is really big. jellyfish really helped because its so tanky, it does ranged damage, it splits focus and the poison(?) damage it deals persists even after the jellyfish dies. it took a lot of tries but eventually it wasnt too bad

Use the jelly fish summon, keep his attention on you and the jelly fish will apply a poison to him that doesn't wear off so then you can play the full defence game.

As astrologer he went down easy. Honestly almost everything goes down easy with astrologer.

When you see a big hit about to come in, Roll in not away. When the quick attacks come in, roll out and time the dodges. Get a slice or two pending on your weapon speed and then roll away and run from the quick combos. Often he'll throw knives, or do the jump to close distance. I like to use the wolves around hammer time because his combos get even longer. I usually kept backing up and waited for him to lose interest in me and got some damage while i could when he turned away from me. Also it's important to bait him into attacking so you can wear his combo down and not have to evade every single hit.

Pre hammer, his moves are very readable and quite slow in comparison. He just delays them so you dodge roll too soon. Just watch the knife throw when at a distance. Get use to the pattern and you'll easily get to the second phase without getting hit.

Thank you for your jump cheese I failed this boss fight like 15 times before reading this and after you have opened my mind I cleared it first try lol. The NPC aswell as the wolves did their thing too I guess
