Uchigatana - Keen Affinity or keep Unsheathe?
The Uchigatana is as OP as it was in DS3, but this time you do not even have to bonk an NPC over some edge to get it early on.

That said, the questions arise when you are able to choose an affinity for your weapon. This process, to my knowledge, goes along with switching the 'weapon art' ( I think they're called 'skill' in this game ) to one of the weapon arts present on an ash item you've found.

'Unsheathe' is simply one of the best weapon arts out there, no sane person would ever want to change it in exchange for no benefit. But you do get slightly better dex scaling and thus slightly more damage ( building up as the game goes on ) from changing Unsheathe to a weapon art that allows the 'keen' affinity on your weapon.

What do you guys think, keep Unsheathe - a weapon art that again carries hard in groups as well as on bosses - and upgrade some mind to have enough FP to constantly use it on bosses, or go with what will quite possibly turn out to default to Sword/Blade Dance with a slightly better dex scaling?

Hey, There's an Unsheath art of war you can find which you can apply to the uchigatana to make it keen (dex scaling better) and keep the Unsheath skill on the uchi :) Hope this helps.

This is some nice information, I hope I come across it soon as Unsheathe with Uchigatana's range is just too broken. I'm at 2/5 great runes atm, I bet I missed it :)

Yeah i'll put the location in as a spoiler.

It's in the limgrave lake where the dragon was. You have to kill a white dung beetle for it. Near the south end of the lake.
