how to set items in quick (Y) d-pad

I understand hold Y and it will go to the quick item where you press up, left, down, or right to access something. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SET UP something in there though. I've tried everything.

Any help please. I'd like to get my horse and a summon on there.

Hi EDF,

When you press Start / Options to display the menu screens (e.g. Inventory, Status, etc.) if you move the directional pad to the right, you'll hop over to the Quick Pad.

And there it should be Y (windows controller default) to change the quick pad around.

Note that an item can't be on both the quick pad and the D-Pad Down menu.

go to equipment selection screen hit left direction you be at y dpal options hit y on slot to switch select item blammo.Took me for ever .
