Banned from Online: Inappropriate activity detected - Unable to start in Online mode.
So I'm playing the game this morning and my game CTD'd twice in about 10 minutes. First the game froze then the game completely closed.

Now I boot the game back up and I get a notification saying that "Inappropriate behaviour has been detected" and I'm unable to play in online mode.

I have never played with anyone but my IRL friend and have never been nor invaded anyone else. I have no modded files or have made any changes to any files. When we played together we only did dungeons and died to everything above ground. I have never left a note on the ground in game or interacted with anyone else in the community.

I have no idea why this has happened and am curious if anyone else has also had this? I'm hoping its a bug and fixes itself soon otherwise I feel ripped off in my purchase and am well over the refund limit.

I just restarted my computer and now it works. Try that.

What's your in game name? Ask your buddy if he can remember if you had any asterisks appear in your name while playing online with him. That's about the only reason you could get banned without tampering with trainers/mods. I've seen many legit names non offensive in any way have asterisks replacing a portion of them. Bankable in the TOS

I'm glad your issue has been resolved by a restart! But that message... it does sound kinda funny, like you picked your nose while playing or something.

Same issue here. Reboot sadly didn't help :/ Can anyone confirm this is a ban? Had this message before right after launch and it just went away after a few hours.

Update: After I completely reinstalled the game online works again! That may be worth a try if nothing else helps.

It thinks you are closing the game down to avoid pvp. It's completely absurd that you get a (temporary) ban for a crash, but the same thing could happen in Dark Souls. It happened to me. Unless they can completely prevent the game from crashing this should not happen.
Client side anti-cheat is defective by design and the sooner the developers realise this and remove it, the better we all will be

Agree. Most protection should be "Server"-Side. In case of peer-to-peer simply by the other client. If one of the connected parties detects unexpected behavior, just drop the connection.
Some kind of client side protection is fine, just to make it harder. But EAC is so invasive and inaccurate that it does more harm than good.

EAC is broken. I got banned while sitting at a bonfire, making a post in the forums. I hadn't even once played with another player. Lol

When I made a thread about it, it ended up being like 20 pages of people saying they saw me cheating in their games and that I was a known cheater from previous Souls games. Lmao
The main person who was advocating that I was a cheater didn't even have the game and was VAC banned. -.-

Because of this, I make sure to go into every thread I see about it and back the person up, because no one wanted to back me up until I jumped through hoops and proved I don't even have other Souls games.

Something on your machine might have caused EAC to flip out and ban you - like an AV that EAC doesn't like or something else you had running in the background. You may need to reach out to Namco Bandai support directly for help with it since the EAC stuff is outside of steam's control. with the new launch they'll probably be super busy though so you may not get a response for a while

Same here. I was just riding around exploring and then got that message out of the blue and immediately kicked off.
