This is worth checking out if you'd like to see what the Devs had in mind for Kale. I really wish they had kept this.

Going through this doorway took me to the Deeproot Depths via a series of tree roots and some ants. I found this similar to the design for the Haligtree, where I needed to traverse a similar path to pick up all the loot left at various levels, although once more there were a couple I couldn't work out how to get to.
Part way down I noticed what looked like a cave opening, and the path to it looked clear from the Great Waterfall Crest SoG, so I fast-travelled back and went exploring, and I'm glad I did as it was full of ants and a number of Queen ants, which is odd as I would have thought there'd only be one, but hey...who's complaining? A quick google also shows that ant colonies can have more than one Queen to ensure it survives the first year, so I learnt something new today...
Anyhow, they weren't difficult in the slightest and therefore I was quite surprised to gain 5 Numen runes and another 5 Rune Arcs. Was the scale of that reward due to the fact it was hidden? Oh, and at the exit of that cave was the Elden Stars incantation, which looks great but needs 50 faith, so won't be using that for a while unless I do some rune farming...
Made it to the bottom finally and after wandering through and dispatching more ants, I came across the Deeproot Depths SoG and a finger crone who was bemoaning the fate of someone who I am assuming was her love at one point. Maybe I'll find him and kill him down here.
A bit more wandering and I found a map, so that seemed as good a place as any to call it a day for now...
I'm not after any specific ending as I don't play like that, my view is that any decisions I make that have an impact on the ending should be embraced even if they are the 'wrong' ones.
That said, if this ends the game prematurely by avoiding the fight with the Elden Beast that many have alluded to, then it's not where I want to go.
No, you'll still fight EB. That doesn't change.
OK, I may just do this then...
Is Leyndell ash?
I can't remember if you're that far along in the main story. If it is, then you'll have to do it on another run.
If it's not, then awesome! Because that is my favorite ending.
Yep, it is...ah, well...
There's always NG+
Found the route down and got to the broken platforms, but there's nothing there. Can't see a way to move left or right as the gap between platforms seems to large to jump it.
Can't find this. Started at the Leyndell SoG but unable to find a route out of the immediate area as it just seems completely enclosed, parapets slightly too high to jump over.
Decided to have a crack from the Forbidden Land SoG and accidently found a Night Cavalry, which I'd clearly missed on my first run-through. Also found a secret room in the lift between the two areas that I'd initially missed as obviously looking in the wrong direction, so that wasn't an entirely wasted effort...
He's rocking the Blasphemous Blade, he should be able to Taker's Flame his way to a win.

This must have popped when I got the Elden Stars incantation, but I'm quite chuffed with that one...
Found it, turned out I was a bit tired and needed a bit of a lie down. One of the more impressive cut scenes now and a tad arty as it went black and white, as all those broken bits came together to form an arena whilst I snoozed.
I awake to find a hibernating dragon poised in mid air and it turned out to be called Dragonlord Placidusax. I died half a dozen times and nothing that either Tiche or me are doing seems to have that much of an effect.
I've managed to get Placidusax down to about half HP before it vanishes and then swoops in for a quick two hit that just wipes me out.
So that's my adventure for tonight...
Got there and found it. I could see an ulcerated tree spirit prowling around, so I ran around the edge of the courtyard and managed to grab Erdtree +2 before I was attacked. Was doing OK against the tree spirit, but then the rest of his gang turned up and hemmed me in, taking my HP quite fast.
Probably won't go back there again, unless someone tells me there's something else worth heading there for...
