also steam is literally FORGETTING my controllers, when i save a preference on a name and profile it always on start up just brings it back to the data before i did that. also it switches which controller gets which profile.
I installed DsHidMini and then DS4Windows and it didn;t work at first but then I had to redo the ds4 installer thing and choose the hideHID and fakecontroller option thing and now he is playing with our PS3 controllers wired.

The problem with this one is it doesn't change inputs at all on the fly. You have to launch with only what you want to play with connected
The game isn't the problem (at least not in terms of real-time controller management and compatibility)
How can't it be the game is every controller test I run shows it's fine and all other games work fine, including the adventure guide the game ships with?
No, you are wrong. The game is the problem.
I've never had an issue with controller support, not even with old fromsoft games. Very disappointing!
Create a restore point if you're a nervous type like me.
Install HIDHide
Reboot
Run HidHide
On the Devices tab near the bottom:
check Filter-out disconnected
and
check Enable device hiding
Now, put a tick next to each device other than the controller you'll be using. All of them.
Finally, run Elden Ring
You are effectively unplugging everything other than your controller. You have Google. Use it to find links and further details, if you like. Also, if you tried every 'solution' you've found on the internet, you might want to review your Steam and game controller settings and change them back to normal settings.
Hope this helps
