If you want to use it, disable EAC and play offline.
It's quite stupid that to use online featuers I have to have a completely vanilla game. Especially since Fromsoft won't update the game to improve visuals such as bad pop-in and stuff.
Supposedly Reshade is allowable, so I have no clue why this triggered...maybe it was due to a mod I had previously installed (nointro mode). This brings me to another complain, I don't want to be forced to sit through a Fromsoft logo and all that every time I go back to the main menu or start the game...another thing you cannot disable without mods. So Annoying.
Question is more for the creator of the mod than people here. It's possible to reshade without touching the games files. So it's also possible you wound't run into problems. That said, they also have launch tags to disable EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat), so would suggest doing that if you're going to use mods. Haven't touched the modding scene for ER yet so don't know what they're doing.
Should be clear, this kind of thing is normal to make when making emulators and the like and doesn't require you to change the games files as it's dependent on the hardware/software running the game and not the game itself. You might be able to change the shading without touching any mods as well using your graphics card settings. NVIDIA (NVIDIA Freestyle) already has a beta out to do this by the way. Would probably use theirs if you're uncertain how to mod yourself given you wouldn't really understand what you're downloading from the modder as such. That might be a much bigger issue for you than running a mod.
Elden Ring makes use of a proxy system for play.
You control a proxy which receives input, and 'information' from you.
The server controls a proxy, which other players interact with, and holds the 'true information' about the character, uses your inputs, and communicates the results to co-op partners.
If the information on your proxy does not match up with the server proxy, it will lead to a flag report on their Anti Cheat system.
If the flagged report is from a bug, such as lag causing a known issue, it will be largely ignored by the automatic systems, and perhaps throw out a false report, but usually not outright ban unless there is proof of modified 'information' being caused by a mod, or hacks.
That being said, any and all mods, regardless of how non-intrusive they are, can lead too, and will eventually lead to a ban if used on the official servers, as even if EAC can not connect your account directly, individuals you connect with can.
There are methods by which you can disable EAC, and play with others safely, google will be the most help.
In previous entries injected texture mods never flagged an account, this has changed for Elden Ring.
Also, a few people have said, they have been banned, and the only thing they use is Reshade, but those people could just be trolling.
