Are you stuck on Margit?

Well you probably need to explore some more, go back to the start and travel around.
Then you might find Margit's Shackle which will help a bit.
Also, stop summoning two people, just use one. A boss scales with the more people fighting it.

Margit's Shackle can be found in the river after the lake with the dragon, follow the path inbetween the cliffs until you find a cave right past some skeletons, there after an easy bossfight you can buy it for 5000 runes from an NPC.

Or you can just get a Battleaxe and spam heavy attack to constantly stagger Margit (make sure to hold down the trigger to charge it), don't feel bad if you cheese him, the game doesn't have a single good bossfight.

stupid question...
do you hold heavy attack before or after pressing jump? does it change the damage that much or is it mostly poise/stance threshold?

I must say as a Wretch at like level 8 I didn't stand much or a chance against this guy. Got him to 50% with about 6 attempts but it just requires sooo many hits. I was doing about 60 damage a hit which appeared to be taking off about 1-2% of his life.

Decided to level up a little and see if I can find some more gear before heading back.

Dude i had the exact same thing happen.

I'm level 13 vagabond and i got him down to like 70% i think before i died and i'm not sure if i'm underleveled or not.

Also getting about 70 damage with my hits, i am using Lordsworn's Straight Sword not the regular Longsword though.

Lake with the dragon? The ♥♥♥♥? I really need to explore a lot more.

I'm like level 1 to 21 from playing as a Wretch and all co-op summoning pools are just people trying to bash their head in defeating tree sentinels, when I've explored like 40% of the entire map already to loot everything (not try to kill everything).

The Ultra GS called "Greatsword" is found to the East after you cross the barrier into the 'diseased' land, you can follow the main road and find the treasure convoy cargo as it's sitting in the middle of the road.

I only fought 2 smaller bosses before killing him... He's like right there at the games start. Was a bit like Gundyr checking if you are ready for the rest of the game ore not. xD

Actually not like Gundyr since they buffed him a lot since the Network test, he's a test to see if you are wiling to waste 20 hours trying to summon players to kill him while everyone else is exploring for other stuff lol.

The Tree Sentinel is like a Level 30 field boss given how hard he hits when you are level 1 to 12 in co-op, but is less threatening when you fight him alone when he's not buffed.

I mean, instead of wasting the 20 hours trying to summon players, you could just attempt him, get used to his moves after 10 attempts or so and kill him in the next 5.
Takes like... 2 hours at most, if your fights are slow.

how do the shackle work exactly?
Edit : nvm found it.
If you manage to stagger him so he kneels (crit ready) use them then, near him and he'll stay down (but no crit anymore) for a short while.
you don't have to buy a new one.
