I hate the open world
After 10 hours in the game, this is my biggest negative about the game. The open world feels bland and empty. It's the same problem all other open world games have, small pockets of things to do, (dungeons, camps of enemies, and so on) separated by vast nothingness.

I'm still loving to game so far, but I just wish to had a more traditional level design. Ok back to the game.

Pretty weak complaint, if you search there are things to find.

Don't play open world games if you don't want any sort of vast nothingness. Having that is half the point, to give some sense of journey between destinations instead of just handing you a set of small packed and curated levels. Makes for good sightseeing too.

Gonna disregard this one.

Yeah, how dare you show negativity on their beloved game. Response should always be positive and perfect. Game is a masterpiece, GOTY not broken at all and all who complains are liars.

Agree on this. For me the "Open World" rn really enhance the experience of a Souls Game and i kinda "hope" we will get here (like Dark Souls) a triology as well in this type. If the Game keeps going like that, it easily will beat my favorites like Nioh, Dark Souls 3/bloodborne. I really love the OW, Exploration and stuff.

Yet again i also can see where the OP is coming from, i kinda expected some people complain about it no matter how good it is, simply due it changes the experience quite much. The only thing which frustrates me about this (though OP is not there yet, so don't take it as directed towards you) that these people have still 5 Traditional more linear, compact Souls-Games and tons of alternatives, and can't handle when a single open world one is released.

Didnt they also make halo and other games open world just for the sake of it?

It seems it is just a hype train to sell more games while alienating true fans of the franchise.
nothing new here.

Agree. Dark Souls had the best world and the best exploration of any game I've ever played, and it did it without the "open world" gimmick.

People are so obsessed with this gimmick now, and they think that running aimlessly through empty swamps for hours on end is "exploration".

Dude, explore more. There is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of places to find with useful stuff to find before you reach the castle. There is a cave that only have an opening at night, LOTR style. Check every nook and cranny, one cave is so well hidden its ridicolous. Awesome spell and weapon inside.

The open world lets you fight enemies on your own terms, unlike previous games where the path towards and around the enemies are the same.

ok its a open world game, did u expect to see a chest every ten feet? then it would be a cluttered game, not a open world game

yeah like you can drown in a map with too much stuff to do that you won't even bother to do most of them. if ur mad then u should've refunded the game when you had the chance and just played something else

I feel the opposite, I think this game has one of the better open worlds out there. Exploration leads to meaningful discovery, not a collectible that you need to gather 100 of to get an achievement.
Steel Feb 25, 2022 @ 10:55am
This is like the only open world game I have ever played with meaningful unique content actually locked behind exploration, with meaningful rewards that matter and stick with your character.

Every other open world game is either the rewards are randomized systemized loot that gets outdated in 5 minutes by better loot dropping from the next camp (Ubisoft) or literally resources for you to use and discard (BOTW). Elden Ring has build-changing things in its exploration, with actual dungeons too unlike BOTW.

This is as good as open world games get in my view and if you don't like it then you will NEVER like open world games. Nothing you can do about it, taste thing.
