Can't even get past character creation screen, is it just me?
So, I get home from work a few hours ago, boot up Elden Ring, and 3 hours later I still cannot get past the creation screen..
It either does nothing when I'm finished or it immediately crashes if it does try to load whatever is next.

I'm certain this is a great game, but Fromsoftware, you're still quite behind on pushing out decent PC ports, perhaps with the exception of Sekiro.

Edit for specs: 2070 Super (latest drivers, tested older ones too), 3700x, 16gb ddr4 and game installed on a 970 Evo Pro.

It does the same for me, after i finish creating the character, logo pops up on the lower left corner, then a loading icon on the upper right, and boof, crash.
I hope we can get some more info on this very soon.
Updating drivers fixed this for me.

Same here. I created my character, watched the opening, and then black screen and hard crash to desktop. Don't know if I should refund or not.

Updating drivers fixed this for me.
not for me
i have updated the drivers, changed the graphic settings, tried fullscreen / windowed, turned off my anti-virus, tried gaming mode, changed the launch option to /nolightfx, turned off the game overlay. I tried pretty much everything.
I do meet the hardware requirements, so i dont know what is happening.
GOT IT FIXED.
Apparently the game doesnt like SSD drives, try re-downloading / using the steam moving option to move the game onto a HDD ( or try a different SSD if you dont have one ).

There's no way I'm playing this on an HDD lol.
Edit: literally right after this I was able to brute force my way past the character screen.
Now my fugly character can actually be used!

So you just tried until it worked, without doing anything more than that?
Well i know it sucks to play on an HDD, but IT IS a fix, still runs in stable 60 frames, so im happy, at least until they fix the damn thing.

Yep I just brute forced it.
Also nice to see the cutscene stutter from Sekiro is back -_-
after some time i'll try to put it back on SSD, and let ya know the results, maybe only the first cutscene is broken, who knows.

Same problem here, and I can't figure out where is the issue
have you tried moving it to HDD as i mentioned?
Yeah, sht, that solution won't work for me since there's only 40GB left on my HDD, T_T
