Actually found fix to my freezing/crashing
So I was having constant freezing and crashing on PC despite more than adequate hardware until a user suggested:

1. Disabling Steam overlay
2. Opening Properties, and adding "/nolightfx" to Elden Ring's launch options

This sounded dumb to me at first, but I tried it and it actually fixed my game. I went from constant crashing in the menu and start area, to playing an hour straight with zero issues. Just wanted to share this.

What do you mean by 2. which properties and are you talking about a text insert?

If you right click on Elden Ring in your library, then click on properties, it will take you to a screen with "launch options" at the bottom.

Seems like 2. worked for me, no sure what it does but it seems to be working great!

Can confirm this changed nothing for me. Still getting the same occasional freeze/catch up on the overworld.

This fixed the 3-4 second freezes I would get during combat occasionally, but I still get game-stopping perma-freezes after playing for a while.

Same here, no known fix unfortunately. I've tried damn near everything. My game will randomly crash and freeze once every few hours.

what does "/nolightfx" do exactly?
Nothing. Elden Ring doesn't support any commandline parameters.

Weird, because when I tried the /nolightfx command my green screen crashes immediately stopped. Before I did that Elden Ring would crash within a minute. (It was the only game that would crash)

must be a placebo because this launch option has zero effect to fromsoft games it only works with valve games.
