Why Do Character Models Look So Dated?

I mean, I was just comparing ER to BG3, and the character models in this game (both the PC and NPC's) look like they're ten years old. Faces have little detail or animation, and even the static detail is kind of sparse.

I'd expect for a game released in 2022 that characters would have more detail in them.

Not the best but not the worst either. They look good enough that it doesn’t distract me or take away from the game experience.

Well, sure, I never implied it wasn't an improvement over DS3 - I meant compared to a lot of other games that are currently playable, such as Baldur's Gate 3 or Star Citizen...it's not even close.

The environmental art is AAA - it's really rather stunning, actually.
