you could link one of those, or just move on and not post something unhelpful and rude.
you'd feel better without seeking out negative comments with random people.
The reality is that this question has been answered multiple time already (today) and it is helpful to remind people that they can help themselves by using the search function. It is also helpful to others to keep technical support type threads to a minimum as other people will find answers they need faster.
Have a great day xx
this is worse than lack of ultra wide support. this indicates it is by design. How accurate is this?
Any evidence that the game actually renders ultrawide and they put black bars in front of the rendered pixels? I am skeptical of this claim. You mean literally that below the black bars, is the rendered game? Because "display" and "render" are different things. My guess is they do NOT do that but it just happens as they have the game fixed to a 16:9 ratio and fill everything else with black. Does it support 16:10?
for eg go set resolution to 2560x1440, it stretches out to ultra-wide.
now hit windows key, and pick another window/application like calc - screen switches to desktop resolution of 3440x1440, and game is minimized. Go back into the game, it is again wide screen, full screen, however now truncated to only see the top left 3/4 of the actual full game screen. Now change resolution to 3440x1440, and game will again be ultra wide screen 21:9, and higher resolution however it still is appearing stretched / widened to fill the display the way that 2560x1440 shows, but higher resolution (and no truncating, everything appears correct except that aspect ratio is stretched).
It would be great if they would implement proper 21:10 / 21:9 ratio displays instead of this nonsense.
Sure if you select 2560x1440 it stretches, and that is even worse since the game does the stretch itself and does not provide an easy option to render proper 2560x1440 with black bars which don't decrease performance.
I literally had to change my monitor's native resolution with CRU to have this game run at 2560x1440 and not ruin performance
That aside, ER doesn't support ultrawide and never has. The only thing I can assume is that you effectively "won the lottery" with the game failing to properly compile the shader for the black bars that it renders in UW resolutions and you were able to enjoy the game without it forcing them on you.
As for the other issues, perhaps the driver update reset your original settings back to defaults, or changed them in some other way without notifying you? Also, nVidia drivers aren't immune from bugs.
I remember seeing several of these posts on that subreddit when ER released.
