I found that some of the dagger combos can be blocked. So it's like a dodge, block, dodge thing... still haven't beaten him, but I'm still having fun... lots to do that isn't "defeat boss".
Honestly? I credit that win to the Flask of Wondrous Physick. The Heal + Damage increase buff is insanely good.
I did beat him after i don't know how many tries around level 20 something with the help of the Skeleton Militia summon. It's super awesome that they can come back to life so they lasted way longer than any other spirit summon.
Got him to about half health every time, even on the run where I felt I knew his patterns better, no player or NPC summons.
Gonna give it another run tonight. I did feel as if the had move-set bloat though. Quite a few attacks between what amounts to three different weapons, as well as safety / vulnerability cancels from those dagger attacks.
Interesting for what amounts to, what feels like, the first major boss? I wouldn't really call what I've fought in caves and dungeons so far typical bosses.
Excited to fight him again later.
my jellyfish's poison literally finished godrick off
Like many have said, I used the jellyfish personal summon. I made sure to keep Margit in between myself and the jellyfish and lined up as straight as possible to one another. This meant that whichever of us he was aggrod on he wouldn't be leaping and wide sweep attacking us both. More importantly it keeps you in a position where even if Margit suddenly moves then he will still be lined up with the poison projectile from the jellyfish, which is slow moving. I held aggro while the poison built up and apparently when poison goes off it makes a TON of aggro and he would turn and leap at the jellyfish. That meant 2-4 really solid and fairly safe hits on boss, which I did quickly to keep him from murdering the jellyfish to quickly. Even with grabbing as quick as possible, over the course of the fight i'd say I got more openings from that than anything else. It ended up dying about halfway through phase 2 and then I just finished Margit off solo. The jellyfish and positioning with it really made a huge difference. Also it being just 1 personal summon instead of multiple wolves meant that Margits target changes didn't come off so chaotic.
Margit doesn't give many openings to hit him on his own and he can punish the smallest amount of greed so it's a game of patience with him. Which just makes using jellyfish all the more useful.
As soon as I hopped on, friend wanted to co-op, so took him with me as he asked. As expected and as per usual, completely trivialised the fight.
Went on to the next big boss fight after that on my own though, broke my own rule of completing bosses at least once on my own, prior to engaging in any co-op for them. According to most of the friends though, including ones that almost never co-op, they utilised the NPC summon skills or co-op for once there too, so, fair enough.
