I,also have the same issue. Xbox series X controller not working in Elden Ring but works in everything else.

I have a bluetooth pc controller.......worked fine for me. Research and troubleshoot the problem.........you will find a solution.

I tried all possible solutions up to reinstalling driver or reconnect gamepad via bluetooth or direct connect to usb

The following helped me:
Steam saw me have 3 controllers
controller x360 from inputmapper
razer analog from razer keyboard
ps4 dualshock connected via bluetooth

I removed all controllers except ps4 dualshock and after another restart of steam and game, my controller started working.

Elite v2 controller is not having any input recognized by the game even though the system and steam detect it just fine, i can use it to navigate the big picture interface, the game loads up the developer profile and changes the icons but it wont recognize the inputs.

It shouldn't take over an hour of me doing everything I know to get my controller to work, I've unplugged everything and tried doing all kinds of things with the settings. Even after unplugging everything it still wouldn't detect my controller, and everything is turned on and Steam is detecting my PS4 controller.

Disable all other HID devices like; Throtle, Yoke, Wheel etc. This game is yet another sloppy pc version without proper device support.

I fixed it by diabling vjoy in device manager

On PC here. Have an Xbox Elite Series 2 and an old Xbox 360 controller. Neither one is detected in-game. They're working just fine in Windows / Steam Big Picture / other games.

Tried the Steam Big Picture --> Force On steps above. Also tried hooking it with vJoy just to see. No good. The game won't register the controllers.

Waiting for a fix before playing.

For me I had to recheck Device Manager and look for HID-compliant Game Controller and disable it. Don't use Generic Gamepad Support in steam controller settings either. I didn't even have to set the controller settings for Elden Ring just left it as Default instead of Enable Steam Input. HID driver has been a problem for some games causing controllers to not receive input. Worked for me and hope it helps anyone else.

Well, since FromSoft didn't fix it for their other titles it will be a long wait. And Easy Anti Cheat makes it harder to use a usb device disabler .dll.

This worked for me: right click game in steam > properties > controller > enable steam input
