Where is the Claymore?

Does anyone know the earliest area where the Claymore is located? I don't need any other weapon.

Something tells me that Vagabond literally starts the game with one. I don't know much, it's just what I can tell by looking at his picture.

Wouldn't it be a shame if the Claymore turned out to be like the DKS3 Claymore on release? Less damage/less poise damage than a normal Broadsword?

Vagabond starts with a one-handed sword, not the big blade shown in the picture. According to the Fextralife wiki you can purchase a bastard sword from an early game merchant to tide you over until you find the real deal
