Or if its an unique one.
And yeah, dont have many options for ashes
They can't do backstabs, at least in Dark Souls 3. Their hitbox feels pretty narrow, for the speed of the weapon. You can poke a lot faster with a thrust weapon, or hit wider with a sword. Flails made them even more obsolete, since they're strike weapons with a wider arc, and deal bleed damage.
A whip, in my opinion, should flow from one attack to another like other weapons do, but it's the only one that just feels very clunky. I understand that in real life, maybe that's not how whips work, but for the sake of a video game, you can make the attacks fluid and flow in to one another. I have the Rose Whip from Juno Hoslow and I really want to like it, but just can't. Whips have sadly always sucked.
Unf they could be way more viable without that extra time loss.
i do use claws for backstabbing. and i got a Flail with 3 spike balls on it for if i have to smash things. i also use throwing knifes and bows for pulling and distance enemy's.
Their dps is a bit low, but dual wield bleed or jumping attack builds can be used with whips, which will both do good damage.
Jump attack and run attack l1, never go for 3 l1 in a row
I'm off to look for some more whips.
