Go away, Fortnite kid. The adults are speaking.
Don't you have some v-bucks to buy with your mom's credit card?
That being said, play the game how ever you want as long as you are not cheating, use any build, use magic summons, what ever you like. That is part of the appeal of the game that you can play it in so many different ways,
There are different kinds of gate keeping. Also the Steam forums are especially toxic, in all games, dont judge everybody based on the Steam Forums.
The thing i hate with eldenring being mainstream is all those newcomers who have never played a fromsoft game and cry for nerfs on everything because they cant handle a "hard" game and lets be real here theres not one really hard Souls game (Demonsouls Ds1-3 sekiro bloodborne) outside of lv1 challenges etc.
Radhan used to be a cool fight now he´s a pure joke. Everyone cried about him being to op. Who´s next? Firegiant for some fk reason?
Edit: also those who cry about input que. Always been like that and yet alot of ppl (newcomers) cry about it being unfair.
Mapmarkers for Questlines (i would love a log but fk those markers)
Ah and dont forget about Invaders. They already fked us by removing solo invades and yet ppl still cry about invaders when they fight them 3vs1. Outcry would be massive if ER had the DS3 System (rune arc (ember) active enables invades)
Maybe make it an option where, upon beating the game in "easy mode," you can then import that character as a level 1 wretch / waste of skin / whatever with no gear, or with only one weapon and piece of armor or something, into a regular game for your first regular playthrough with all restrictions removed. Kind of like how some older games would say "good job beating it on easy, now try normal mode" or something. You wouldn't have any (or many) leg-ups on regular players since you're still level 1 and would need to re-grind your stats back to use whatever weapon or armor you brought with you. Possibly reset it to +0 as well, since I could easily imagine a max-level sword doing some serious imbalanced ♥♥♥♥ early-game.
People who play these games normally won't play easy mode as they're used to it. People who haven't played before might try easy mode and say hell with it, one run is good enough for them, and wouldn't have played normal mode anyway. People who wanna gank newbies can't do so in easy mode as it's impossible. I don't see any impact on the community being large or for a long period of time, but.... eh, who knows. Could probably use some tweaking to this stuff as well.
I think a lot of what Elden Ring brought to the table helped make it more accessible to people as it is. Open world means you're not stuck in the same tough-as-nails bit if you just hit it, and the horse gives you more mobility. Having a bit more of a structured story than a typical Souls game helps to keep people drawn in. Having bonfires basically "point" you to where to go next is a good thing as they're not terribly obtrusive, though being able to turn those trails off on the map might be a good idea.
I am guilty of doing the last one a lot.
So I fall in the gatekeepers category.
What a shame, not even paid for it.
Are we talking about informed judgments on gameplay topics, or on feelings that may be totally free and diverse ?
When someone forms this kind of "opinions" on the difficulty :
* "that's too easy, FS sold its soul to casulas !" => while abusing known easier builds/tactics
* "I did it on 2 tries, this is joke" => while using mimic + terra magicka + comet azur + wonderful free spells
* "that's too difficult, plz nerf !" => while ignoring the spectrum of available tools/builds/playstyles
Then I'll remind him how uneducated and biased is this "opinion".
There is definitely a huge lack of qualification to form a valid evaluation (i.e. actual testing of multiple builds, strategies, tools, levels etc)
my man, why do you give a ♥♥♥♥ what anyone says/thinks? do you seek peer acceptance in your real life as well or just this just an online thing?
I don't see any reason in the world why I should care how Joe Soap plays Elden Ring, and I worry for the mental health of people who do, because it tells me there's something more going on -- unless they're just childish, or trolling, which is usually the case.
When dealing with each person's individual projections, you can't win, because you're not them, and even if you conform, people of that mindset will always find a way to try and elevate themselves over the conformed, and you'll see it in every game. Watch a stream of people doing min-itemlevel runs of old FFXIV extreme content and a bitter segment of the masses will say "Bruh, it's not 1,000% identical to how I experienced it 8 years ago" to try and dilute the accomplishment to the benefit of their ego.
So, ignore the naysayers and use your caster builds or bleed builds or whatever, summon those minions, grab the most overpowered weapon in your mind, use those cheese strats, abuse the open world, make those specialized one-shot builds (etc). After all, they are all there to be used -- and if someone says "You aren't actually playing the game if you do it X way", remind them that 'truly playing the game' would involve delving into everything it has to offer, rather than restricting yourself to my-way-or-highway nonsense.
Or something. Honestly, just do whatever you want in this 'vijya game'.
They forgot that magic/mage are part of the game and mage also have advantages and disadvantages. They also said that people shouldnt play as a mage and tell them to gitgud.
Okay lets reverse their crap logic:
If they cant face mage class, they have to git gud too, that means for now they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad at handling mages
So why? W/hy complain that the game has invasions, is "unfair" to invaders", has overpowered spell/skill x, or the boss design doesn't suit you.
W/hat is the point?
