I had some major trouble with the Fire giant too (playing on console)
So ended up cheesing it.

Its pathing has issues with the upper right side area where there is a hill with a steep side and it is none to fond of the uneven terrain next to it either.

So what you do is lead it all the way to the lower right side, then move up there. It will from there try to foot the hill but cannot.

Arrow damage talisman
Arrow Range talisman
Pulley bow or Long bow.

Poison arrows and a lot of others too.

Beware the fire orbs that can move through the terrain and when the 2nd phase starts, you'll need to lead him there again as best possible.

Might take some tries but it does work in the end.

Was a caster with minimum investment for the bows, so should work for all.
