as heads up FP gains are trash until 20 mind, which is 100 FP total.
20 mind is only FP because you only get +3 FP per level until then, when they start giving you +6.
If you are already using summons and you like using them, then it's probably worth bumping mind a bit to use the others, though bear in mind some equipment can buff your mind stat later, so you might not need to invest the points RIGHT NOW.
If you're super early in game with this question, just roll up another character and play them in parallel to see what you like more.
Honestly weapon arts are so good in this game that a bit more mind probably won't hurt at all, regardless of anything I typed above. If you're really hell-bent on a backout option then backup your save before spending mind points. This game is so repeatable (and easily so) that you won't miss it either way, in my opinion.
Weapon arts are really useful in this, and a shield with the "no skill" ash of war allows you to use them while one handing the weapons. Since you are 2h, it isn't as much an issue, but even the quite light heater shields give you the option to defend if you need it without taking as much damage as blocking with a weapon does.
