Is it worth investing in Mind to raise FP to use a summon ash thing?
Until now, the only summon thing that I had was the Spirit jellyfish that Little Red Riding Hood gave me... and it supposedly only costs 31FP to summon.
However I struggled a bit against a Crypt Shade boss thing just now, and watched a video of someone else fighting it... They summoned a pack of wolves to help out in the fight.

For some reason my Spirit Jellyfish item was grayed out the entire time I was in that boss arena, even though my character (Lv.17 Bandit with a Mind of just 11) has a FP capacity of 71.

So I ended up defeating the boss by two-handing a greatsword I found and punishing whiffs with a jumping heavy attack until it finally died.

My reward for this battle was the ash for Lhutel the Headless.

However this summon requires 104 FP to cast, which I imagine is a ways off for me.

Worth using?
Any way to reduce the FP cost?

Up to this point I haven't used FP for anything at all.

If you think it is worth it or not, and to head off people ready to just copy/paste clickbait "But there is a physic option that gives a free FP use!".

as heads up FP gains are trash until 20 mind, which is 100 FP total.

20 mind is only FP because you only get +3 FP per level until then, when they start giving you +6.

No, not for summoning anyways. Just find the mixture that gives FP. I could tell you where it is if you don't care about spoilers.

You can respec your character up to 15(?) times per story clear.

If you are already using summons and you like using them, then it's probably worth bumping mind a bit to use the others, though bear in mind some equipment can buff your mind stat later, so you might not need to invest the points RIGHT NOW.

If you're super early in game with this question, just roll up another character and play them in parallel to see what you like more.

Honestly weapon arts are so good in this game that a bit more mind probably won't hurt at all, regardless of anything I typed above. If you're really hell-bent on a backout option then backup your save before spending mind points. This game is so repeatable (and easily so) that you won't miss it either way, in my opinion.

Those soldier summons (like the Headless dude) are pretty great but the best summon might be the Mimic Tear, which costs HP, not FP, so you could still get a great summon and not worry about spending points for more FP.

Imo it´s worth it to get 100 fp so you can summon Luthel or Oleg. They are much tankier than the other summons and a good distraction especially later on when you have to fight multiple bosses at once.

Its worth it, you need at least 100 fp for most builds anyways.

I'd recommend looking at all the things you can use FP for in addition to summoning, FP is a really useful resource, but relegating it to single purpose will actually hold you back.

Weapon arts are really useful in this, and a shield with the "no skill" ash of war allows you to use them while one handing the weapons. Since you are 2h, it isn't as much an issue, but even the quite light heater shields give you the option to defend if you need it without taking as much damage as blocking with a weapon does.

Ah, I usually have my Buckler out but I was having no luck at all trying to parry the Cemetary Shade. So I just two-handed that boss for a bit of extra damage.

no, just use your mixer and place the unlimited FP catalyst in it. this allows you to summon anything (except mimic because that costs hp) for free and you can save you mana for skills/magic.
