How to fix Rennala

Lets be honest Rennala is one of the worst bosses.

Didn't even know she could summon enemys until my third character.
They should either buff her spell speed.
OR
Give her a good HP buff and then make her summons be real mobs that wont go away.

I may have been a lil overleveled when I fought her, but yea this boss was a joke. 1st phase hardly requires any skill or dodging at all, 2nd phase is basically at the level of an average normal enemy.

We don't need to turn bosses into ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gods.

She can easily wipe you out with the beam spell if you fail to dodge it and making her summons stick around would just quickly lead to being hit by the beam spell when you focus on the monsters.

She has a problem every main boss has. To many moves .. they are rngfests. Most of the time you have a joke Rennala. But when rng decides her to be a spammy, dodging piece of ♥♥♥♥.. suddenly Rennala can be somewhat challenging.

If people who use instableed builds keep asking for a mage boss with tons of magic resistance to have buffs, people who run caster builds and nuke bosses with Comet Azur should start asking for Radahn buffs.

Radahn has always been a joke for these builds, who in exchange struggles to deal any damage at all on Renala.

But how would one of these metabois understand game balance lol

Rennala like most bosses and enemies in the game are near impossible to fight as a caster. She is easy if you use melee but her casting speed is already so fast even with Radagon Icon using lighting spear isn't fast enough to cast without getting hit for it which all of her spells are either multiple homing or just one shots. The summoning stage is impossible without melee as she instantly throughs more at you after they despawn on top she uses her spells too sometimes. You clearly are fighting her overleveled or also using melee. I stomped her the moment I leveled a bit and went pure melee. Buffing her casting speed would be dumb. Want a challenge go to her earlier and don't use bleed or melee use pure casting ♥♥♥♥ is rough. Next you going ask for crystalians to get buffed lol. Curious what builds and level you are when you fight her and if you are abusing map knowledge to cheese and get all the best items and full clearing after. My first playthrough i didn't care about going in order and I mopped through the game but the moment you do everything in the order you are supposed to ♥♥♥♥ is alot harder. Currently trying pure casting faith in order giant bears are the bane of existence.

Rennala is kind of weird as a boss fight. In that it's difficulty varies drastically depending on build.

If you're melee it's pretty easy.

If your a Mage though? Oh no.

All your magic spells do next to no damage to her, and if you have a magic scaling melee weapon that too is weak. Her damage output is high, Mages being squishy means she's a real threat.

Rennala is a very unpleasant fight as a Mage.

Seeing as she’s not a demi god and still can one shot anyone if they don’t know dodge patterns of second phase I think reasonable balance compared to other bosses.

First character STR/DEX with a dismounter sword / and i NG+ her but because NG+ is an absolute joke where you oneshot every boss until the last three it wasnt suprising.

Second character Blood dude with the blood staff

Third character glass cannon mage

Was most likely underleveled on my mage because i ignored all the dungeons and currently only focusing on bosses for the last achievement.

It was only with my mage i realized she could actually summon things but it still wasn't a boss that was in anyway challanging.
Just run left and dodge, when summons appear just keep running left an dodge while throwing rocks at her every now and then.

But i only got the Giant summon and Wolf summons.
Don't know if the dragon summon is good or not but it seems that is her best one.

When I first fought her I was straight up questioning rather it was a fight I was supposed to lose. I got her health down to nothing fast then proceeded to spend like a minute chasing her. She just kept back phasing out of my attacks

shes a free boss. all souls games have them (usually mages too). shes not meant to be all that difficult. no real reason to change her.

an HP buff would make the fight a complete chore for casting characters and if you're using a faster weapon she can be a huge pain with how quick she can disengage after one or two hits. also making the summons actual mobs would suck. have fun fighting a dragon while dodging homing projectiles and the laser. that would just be bad and completely un-fun
