Faux hardcores are terrified of anything that even SOUNDS convenient, regardless of actual effect.
See also: People who are proud of their aging wrist carpal tunnel risk and keep pissing themselves crying "an in game map!?!?!!? REAL gamers only write on grid paper!" Yeah, makes me want to beat them over the head with an oldschool instruction manual I had to read page X paragraph Y for NPC dialogue due to a combination of storage limits and copy protection gimmick.
I can definitely see that being a thing which would suck, but thats is just people complaining about something being "overpowered." The equivalent for this game would be people complaining about Scarlet Rot and then FS decided to nerf it due to people not understanding the point of the effect/how to avoid it.
which ties back to faux hardcore logic. Crying about player damage output lets you pretend you are a big tough guy gamer because "Player deals less damage = inconvenient across whole game".
While a more honest logic of "If you consider status effects tagging you when you dodge in PvP ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, clearly bleed AURAS that do not even need to attack you to stack bleed in PVE are MORE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, right?" does not get you PvP clubhouse coins to say.
Its the same thing when people first talked about the map being a thing or map markers showing character locations.
But also because the NPC icons are usually smothered under grace and location icons anyways, so you still need to use stickers to remind yourself "Wait, where was the merchant selling that one consumable/ammo type, again?"
Damn, most of the COD games he listed are doodoo.
