Can't retrieve runes

I died to the D...something Soldier in Siofra (the one in the water who's asleep) and I can't find my souls on the ground anywhere. The marker is there and I can tell I'm standing right on it, but there is no prompt or little gold tree thing. I thought it might be above or under but I'm 100% sure I died in the boss area because I played nothing but that boss at least 15-20 mins prior to this happening.

I've tried reloading the game, zoning out to a completely different area and back, quitting and reloading at the exact same spot, hoping it would pop up but nothing.

It's not a lot of runes, granted, 10k isn't that much but at level 49 it's a good ways to a level. I'm not salty about that, I'm just disappointed that this kind of thing can happen at all. I can't imagine this happening when I'm later in the game and hundreds of thousands of runes just disappear, because.

Is there a workaround, something to make it pop up? And if there isn't where can I get 10k souls fast? I don't care if it's an exploit, if the game cheats, I'll cheat back.

Good luck man. This has only happened to me once, and it was in Bloodborne. Sucks.

This happened to me as well outside the capital in one of the caves with the bear. I tried many of the same things you did and could not get it to respawn. Just cut my losses and let the bear kill me again

Well, beating the Dragonkin Soldier netted me 16k runes, and I did it without dying too, so, poetic justice, I guess?

I did find a certain boulder and I got my 10k back, I'd be damned if I had let them get away with this!
