DRAGONLORD PLACIDUSAX bug preventing access to arena
I was killed by the Dragon Lord Placidusax Boss (fire breath) immediately AFTER I killed him. Now that the boss is dead I cannot "lay down" to go back to the arena or teleport there via the site of grace (let alone the 280k runes I didn't get for killing him). As a result this issue is barring the use of Miquella's needle to reverse the flame of frenzy (the only reason I fought the dragon lord). It is insanely frustrating to be locked into an ending I was working hard to avoid due to poor game design.

Does anyone know if there is a fix? If not, please patch this silly issue. I can't even look at the game anymore considering how many hours I feel like I've wasted.

Me too. Cannot imagine they did not think about this during testing.

I guess no one thought someone would suck that much.

- Agreed. Other transport bossfights like Astel natural born of the void had a stake of Marika that would in theory prevent this. At least let us go back to the arena the same way we did in the first place, the "lay down" prompt.

these games are known to be punishing

From what I assume based on nothing but the description and random stranger's speculation, the Nox Mirror Helm might have something to do with that. It says it wards off the influence of the greater will and it's vassal fingers (it doesn't specify which amount of fingers, so according to all known rules of speech this means all fingers). Please though, do feel free to tell me I'm completely wrong if that's the case, I really haven't seen conclusive evidence either way.

I totally understand. This boss is arguably one of the hardest bosses in the game. The problem here is poor structuring of the areas in the game, not difficulty. You can die to this guy mid fight a hundred times and still go back to the area, but if get killed by one of his attacks that continue after his death (flames) then you are locked out of the arena and important story elements. Its just badly designed.

Yep, killing the boss and dying at the same time can screw you over like that. Usually you just won't get souls, but here you can't even get back.
Also, a bit late - but you can use the needle without killing him. Right after getting to the arena it's possible.

Damn.... Good to know for next time I guess haha.

Still super bummed about it though. I keep thinking about the game but can't motivate myself to actually play it, let alone beat, it after this.

Solution is: git gud and kill him without dying. Wow this way you wont see this bug happen

Since cheaters can manipulate your location data it stands to reason that you too could do such a thing if you embraced the darkness.

This is the most toxic reply to this problem. A bug, read a BUG, caused by an oversight by the developers is causing OP to lose access to the arena, which the developers also made into the only place where you can use this specific game-altering item. OP DID git gud. OP DID kill the boss, by all metrics. The fact that they cannot reach the arena should be proof enough. Otherwise, how long after must you be alive for it to truly count as a kill? The entire game? I could claim you haven't killed any boss since you've guaranteed died at some point after killing any boss.

I see you follow the principle of Schrödinger's a-hole: "you can do whatever ♥♥♥♥ moves you desire, but any time someone calls you out for it, you hide behind the guise of 'just joking'". A classic example of sillmjölke.

Perhaps you're telling the truth. Or perhaps, like many followers of the aforementioned principle, you are a spineless coward, compliant by nature, not capable of standing for what you say when any sort of resistence is presented.
