Do you use consumables?
There are a great deal of consumables in Elden Ring. We can make throwable items, perfumes, food, and projectile ammunition. Of that, I tend to not use all that is available. Making arrows is definitely fun, but I never seem to use the perfumes, food items and throwables.

I am considering taking more time to play with these options, and wondered what some of the opinions on these items were, or are the just as neglected by you?

I liked a few of them.

The Volcanic Pots and the Iron-something perfumes. Though I just didn't stop to get more resources for those once I was out from the course of adventuring, but were among my favorites on the Vagabond-style character.

Would love to have all those arrow recipes on the Bandit-style character with the bow, but that may be part of their journey.

And then the rainbow stones. I used those to scout if I could survive a fall or not. Sometimes it would lead me astray with sticking onto something that was an instant death fall area. But I still like to toss them around from time to time.

And regrettably, Torrent is wondering why I did not feed them all these berries that I collected.

food items are meh as they dont really provide that much of a boost to use. the only thing i use the perfume bottles for is the fervor damage boost and the immunity shield. i use bombs on occasion. im always building arrows.

No, there are largely garbage, and they take way more effort to craft than the are worth. Only consumable I tend to use are rune arcs, since you get one for each boss you help someone clear.

I use arrows, but only ones that I can buy from the shop in bulk.

I'm trying to get myself to start using these a bit more, and not fall into the classic rpg syndrome of stockpiling items I'll never use up until the credits roll.

Course the issue here is that i previous souls games, I'd find myself using items, and still dying in seconds, so it feels wasteful, and end up working on a boss until I figure it out.

But here the fact that I can craft, I hope I can convince myself that there's no reason to hoard.

I figured I'd have to craft bombs and bolts anyways but frankly, i keep finding more to use but I'll probably end up relying on those more often. Once I get my endurance up, I wanna be able to carry a crossbow full time with my tower shield, and whatever str weapon i'm using.

I'll use arrows and throwing knives, but not much else.
Still, I keep some of them equiped on my bars so the mimic will use them - eg he'll apply rot grease, throw glintstone clusters, etc

Ironjar Aromatic. Yes, I used twice. It's fun and effective.

I use some. Poison darks/kukris to make them move or punish flash use with bleed procs. I don't bother with food/buffs, weapon buffs, pots, ect. I use rainbow stones to mark my path for invaders.

No.

I keep saying to myself "next playthrough for sure ill start using them" but I never do. Like they just dont seem needed.

the ones you can effectively just buy, yeah, there's some decent stuff
craftables sourced exclusively from running around farming random items feel like they shouldn't be relied on because it's just tedium if you want more, so like why bother

I used the rainbow stones to mark invisible paths, then realised they were kind of rare to find and that arrows do the same job, both better, faster and easier.

I have been going out of my way to gather resources, in preparing for this fun. I am hoping that these are more useful than the ones in The Witcher series. Those potions and oils were all for naught, except the one for the moonwraiths. You could spend an hour preparing in The Witcher, from getting ingredients to preparing for the fight, and it would be negligible in the actual fight.

Can't be arsed.

If the food buffs stack with other things, it might be the needed edge in some of the close battles. I want to test duration and amount, to see just how much it is worth it. Duration is my biggest concern. If it last ten seconds or even 30 seconds, it becomes more of a chore than a bonus. Incantations buffs already last such a short time, and upkeep is not really possible once in battle.

I really like that Rune Arc reward. I have about 80 Rune Arcs right now. Many of these fights are very fast as well. I am always up for helping others just because I enjoy doing it. I definitely will not say no to an epic buff item though.
