so no, mot really aside from cure for poison and stuff.
bone darts are useful for drawing aggro or finishing an enemy off.
firebombs/volcano pots are very useful, volcano pots especially useful for enemy groups. both are useful against plant enemies too, especially the big ones.
beastlure pots (in areas where rats are mixed in with non-rat groups) rats are incredibly annoying so drawing them out in certain areas really helps.
those are the main things i craft. sometimes i make arrows/bolts/greatarrows too.
Crystal Darts keep your posture damage up and have some cool other uses, and there's no reason not to use grease, if the logistics of buffing don't annoy you : D
I was an omnicollector for awhile but once I figured out what I was using and what I wasn't, I only spam-picked the stuff I needed. Ruin Fragment remains the most disappointing item in game for me.
Also - isn't it cool that you can use the pots and throwing daggers and they actually have an effect and are not just worthless and - on top of that - you can just craft new ones? In the other games you usually ended up with a ton of usable items that you never used because you were afraid to waste them ;)
Flame pots are very good early game before you have fire for staggering stuff like the giant plant that staggers from fire interrupting its attack. It is good free fire dmg with some minor AoE.
Holy pots are a godsend to people struggling with reviving skeletons and undead weak to holy (Death Rite Bird, etc.) if they lack other holy options like Sacred Blade (easily overpowered without being cheese OP, the best holy option in the game bar none) as many seem to miss this Ash somehow. The fact that they're ranged and sometimes some skeletons are in higher up areas is also a convenience.
There are others, too, like Kukri for some bosses or things like in the underground Ainsel ruins that shoots those magic things.
Bolusses to counter the many status effects.
Cotton for drops/stones for drop distance
Tons of arrow types
Etc. I don't think everyone will need it, especially if rather over leveled or flexible, but they're great tools to have. Its one of the better crafting implemetnations I've seen. That said, Flames of Redmanes is simply so efficient I've found little need for tools. Who needs aoe bombs or healing flask for a dungeon when 1 weapon art cast will stun and let you 1-shot critical any mob you come across at a low FP cost. 2-3 Ashen Estus will clear most dungeons entirely never putting you at risk to use a health flask. Even for stronger mobs/bosses 2-3 casts will do the same to them....
its more of a role playing thing than actually usefull.
the only real use is sleep arrows and sleep pots for Godskin Duo. Besides that no real advantage
I also liked the volcanic pot / cracked pot. Helped me take down one of the putrid erdtree avatars, but never went out to gather more volcanic rocks to replenish the supply.
insanely easy to craft, very good damage, decent AOE.
they're just amazing all around, really.
if you ever want to easily gather tons of volcanic rocks, just go to the grace site where azur is. like 4 piles are right next to the grace and you can get 1-3 per chunk.
