Check the sides of the lift, there is a way somewhere around the vicinity of the large area. Just general exporation.
That takes you somewhere into the volcano manor, and you can't trail back from there.
So less "Git gud" more "If an idiot like me can do it, I believe in you!" just be ready for the boss in there to keep no-clipping his face through the wall or landing in his own spit to deny you ripostes.
From game start, gain access to Torrent at the castle gate. From there, beeline to the Third Church of Marika. Use the teleporter behind it to access the Beast Chapel early and with it Dragonborrough. From there, travel across Dragonborrough to Fort Farrow. Once there, rest at the Grace, teleport back to the Church of Elleh, and get the Wolves Spirit Ash and the bell from Renna.
From there, you need to obtain the medallion from Fort Haight in the south of Mistwood and Fort Farrow in Dragonborrough. You will use the Spirit Ash to death run both. Don't fight, bolt for the ladders and open the chests for the medallions.
Once you have both, make your way to Stormveil Castle. Instead of following the road to Margott, use the collapsed bridge to reach the cliffside and skip Stormveil Castle and go straight to Liurnia.
From there, make your way to Glintstone Dragon Smarag. You are not actually going to fight him, but rather get the key to the academy from behind him. Flee once you have it.
Enter the academy. You will not do the academy. After entering, look to your right and use the other glyph to leave. This will take you to Bellum Highway and your last major hurdle. Bolt down the highway. At the end is the lift you want to use. Avoid the trebuchets.
This will take you to Altus Plains. Since you used the lift, the fire sentinels guarding the lift will ignore you. From there, ride your horse north along the road until you reach Windmill Village.
This can be done without a single kill.
The dragon protecting the ravine entrance is very, very beatable with arrows. He has absolutely no answer for it. Melee hit him though phase one, then switch to bow in phase two. That'll get you up on the plateau. I did this very thing myself.
You could grind up some runes, get a longbow and craft up some arrows. If you were trying to do it without gaining any levels, you'd probably need 200 of the best arrows you're able to make. Plan on getting a lot of eagle feathers.
1) Find both halves of the Grand Lift of Dectus
Left Half: Fort Haight (Limgrave)
Right Half: Fort Faroth (Caelid)
2) Find the "Ruin-Strewn Precipice" (Liurnia) and beat the boss to access the elevator to Altus Plateau.
3) Follow the hint Patches gives you, if you don't kill him.
He basically tells you to go to the bottom of the water wheel area of Raya Lucaria, before the first boss, and let the Iron Virgin down there grab and kill you (transported like those sack guys from Bloodborne).
Then fight your way out of where it takes you and beat the double boss fight.
Again, that takes you into the volcano manor, and on top of that it's a spot you can't trail back and exit the manor.
This seems like the best choice since it doesn't require killing anything, thanks.
This is a very hard boss for OP if he plans to stay low level :)

On a separate note, if you exit the manor and turn left circling around I don’t remember if that goes something in Mt Gelmir.
What are you talking about?
You go through the Volcano Area, defeat the two Iron Virgin bosses, then you go through a cave that drops you right next to that Site of Grace between Altus Plateu and area leading up to Mt. Gelmir/Volcano Manor.
follow the path and get out by fighting the double iron maiden boss and you'll be at altus plateau, follow the path left and you'll eventually make your way up the mountain and in to the volcano manor proper, after exiting it and you explore the rest of altus plateau.
alternately after getting eaten and transported to volcano manor you can drop down to the lava on the right, take a bit of fall damage and just constantly heal yourself while you make your way to the lower platforms, you're now in an area of the proper volcano manor and you've skipped the trek up the mountain.
the 2nd one is what I did, and for the longest time I had no idea what the dectus medallion even did or even how to explore the mountain
